Look at my screen name. What do you think?

When I first told my husband's older sister that I was a vegetarian (before I became vegan) she called me crazy. However, in the same conversation I also told her that I didn't like potato chips as I was not exposed to them much as a child and never developed a taste for them. I do not know to which statement she was referring. (Earlier, I had told her son that I did not like potato chips and he had a similar reaction. Yet, he doesn't like many vegetables, and I suspect that it's from poor exposure to them.)

I considered her comment of "crazy" a compliment.

Yes, I do bleed green. I was raised in a meat eating family (I'm the only veg*n). However, I was also taught to save, reuse, recycle, etc. as well. It was from those values (and the Christian faith in which I was raised) from which I made my vegetarian choice.

My husband was raised in a meat eating, processed food eating family. I'm much more apt to find potato chips in his parents' house than potatoes. (It's the opposite at my parents'.) They deliberately buy disposable products becasue they're easier to use (including foam plates so they have less dishes to wash). They don't recycle, though his dad does reuse things.
Yet, I've taught my husband differently. He now recycles and saves things for reuse. He buys second hand becuase he understand that there is more value in it than new. My husbnad still eats meat and processed food, though not in mass quantities. (He doesn't eat potato chips often, so when he indulged at his parents' yesterday, I teased him. Instead, we eat whole grain tortilla chips and peanuts and air popped popcorn.)

What one considers "loony" others cosider "normal".

YES!! I can't help it. After work, I run to each tree in the parking lot and give it a good hug, then after that I run over to all the little bunnies and give them hugs. I come home, eat my veggies hug another tree and go to bed. Busy day I know!

You probably go home eat some rotten flesh and put a can of beer on your beer belly, and fall asleep watching TV, then you do all over again the next day, till you fall victim to heart disease.

GET A LIFE!

No, some are freakish health addicts, some are animal worshiping saps. Some just want to annoy their parents. I'm a healthy, tree hugging sap.

Unfortunately yes. It's that lack of protein in their bodies that people normally get from consuming meat that makes them crazy. This deficiency is linked to activities such a hula hooping, chick flicks, and square dancing. It's science. You can't argue with that.

Are all meat-eaters compassionless aggravating jerks?
