Calling Radha a mistress of Krishna is just insulting Krishna and Radha both.
Krishna was only 6/7 years old when Radha came to his life... it was more of platonic relationship between an innocent cowherd married woman and a naughty child
at age 10/11 krishna left for Mathura...and never met Radha until Prabhas after Mahabharata.... so how a child can have a mistress between the age 6 to 11 ?
Thus Radha was soulmate of Krishna
Rukmini was the chief wife
Satyabhama the silent, devoted other wife
In these three women... Mother Nature presented her self as
Radha - the Apara Prakriti who feels Viraha pain when she is busy in manifesting the universe.
Rukmini : The Adi-shakti who always remains with god
Satyabhama - Para Prakriti which does her work in universe, without asking for anything.. just following God's directions

In Dwarka Rukmini is mentioned as the topmost queen of the Krishna and similarly in Vrindaban Radharani is the topmost of the Gopis. The pastimeous functions of Vrindaban represent greater degree of Rasa reciprocation than Dwarka. As such Radharani is more conspicuous than Rukmini. She is there the all attractive counterpart of the all attractive Lord and therefore She is the highest embodiment of the Ahladini potency of the Lord. Voluntarily the Lord bifurcated Himself both as Radha and Krishna and again joined together in the still more attractive Form of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Satrjit’s daughter Satyabhama is the principle queen of Krishna at Dwarka, Satrajit offered her daughter to Krishna on the recovery of Shyamantaka jewel from him

All these three were connected to Lord Kirshna's life. Radha is incarnation of Lakshmi, though not officially married by Krishna. The others are the wifes of Krishna. In short all the three women are Krishnas beloved.
RADHA - The favourite mistress and consort of Krishna while he lived as Go-pala among the cowherds in Vrindavana. She was wife of Ayanagosha, a cowherd. Considered by some to be an incarnation of Lakshmi, and worshipped accordingly. Some have discovered a mystical character in Radha, and consider her as the type of the human soul drawn to the ineffavle god, Krishna, or as that pure divine love to which the fickle lover returns.
RUKMINI - Daughter of Bhishmaka, king of Vidarbha. According to the Harivansa she was sought in marriage by Krishna, with whom she fell in love. But her brother Rukmin was a friend of Kansa, whom Krishna had killed. He therefore opposed him and thwarted the match. Rukmini was then betrothed to Sisupala, king of Chedi, but on her wedding day, as she was going to the temple, " Krishna saw her, took her by the hand, and carried her away in his chariot." They were pursued by her intended husband and by her brother Rukmin, but Krishna defeated them both, and took her safe to Dwaraka, where he married her. She was his principal wife and bore him a son, Pradyumna. By him also she had nine other sons and one daughter. "These other sons were Charudeshna, Sudeshna, Charudeha, Sushena, Charugupta, Bhadracharu, Charuvinda, Sucharu, and the very mighty Charu; also one daughter, Charumati." At Krishna 's death she and seven other of his wives immolated themselves on his funeral pile.
SATYABAMA - is the third wife of Lord Krishna, known for her strong will and tantrums. Satyabhama was the daughter of Satrajit who owned the Syamantaka jewel. Satrajit, who secured the jewel from Surya, and would not part with it even when Krishna the Lord of Dvaraka, asked for it saying it would be safe with him. Shortly thereafter, Prasena, the brother of Satrajit went out hunting wearing the jewel but was killed by a lion.Satrajit falsely accused Krishna of killing Prasena for the sake of the jewel.Krishna, in order to remove the stain on his reputation, set out in search of the jewel and found it in Jambavan's cave, with his child. Jambavan attacked Krishna thinking him to be an intruder who had come to take away the jewel. They fought each other for 28 days, when Jambavan. As repentance for his having fought Krishna, Jambavan gave Krishna the jewel and also his daughter Jambavati in marriage. Krishna returned the jewel to Satrajit, who in turn repented for his false accusation. He promptly offered to give Krishna the jewel and his daughter Satyabhama in marriage. Krishna accepted Satyabhama as His wife but did not accept the jewel.
The Sri Krishna tulabharam is an incident in the life of Satyabhama, that reveals the extent to which devotion is worth more than material wealth.
According to some texts, Krishna had 16,108 wives, including Satyabhama and Jambavati. In Vaishnava traditions, of Krishna's wives in Dwarka are believed to be forms of the goddess Lakshmi. (Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krishna) -

You do have correct answer.
Foot note Some will call them avatar of Shiva.
********************************************************************
My understanding.
God created Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. As the helpers. To me they are his/her generals.
Brahma is the creator (created every thing in the world).
Shiva is a destroyer of evil.
Vishnu is a creator(non-evil).
When the world needs an enforcer Shiva or Vishnu comes down to the earth as kind of enforce/peace maker /peace keeper. They may participate in wars between nations or kingdom. Both may take different Avatar, the literature I have seen and I am familiar with says,Vishnu came as Ram. Shiva came as Krishna.
Ramayana relates to Ram.
Mahabharata relates to Krishna.
Both are major epics (mithological stories) of Hiduism and part of the Ancient History of of India.
Both are available to readers to read in many languages including English.
Try your library. Look under mythology and history.
