Not surprising that this got into the human food supply in spite what some self described experts have said. It may be difficult determining where your fish comes from, but it's certainly worth the effort so that vegetarians will not become ill from eating tainted fish.

My apologies. I must correct myself. This warning was not intended for all vegetarians, only vegetarians that eat fish. Is that better?

M, I am not deranged. I am, however, a vegetarian.

Thanks MAX MARIE, that's a good point, excellent idea to bring that up about the pigs and chickens in the general food section. I only mentioned the fish since this is the vegetarian forum, and the consumtion of pigs and chickens is not considered vegetarian.

Edit M I stand corrected. Animals do have the right to be treated humanely. However, they do not have the same rights as humans, as they are, for lack of a better word "lesser" than us.
Endorse human rights and animal welfare. It is the only realistic course of action.

EDIT Good Morning ALADIN. Reading one of your posts is always a pleasant way to start the day. It's always a pleasure to hear from the dark side. How are things down there? How are you doing with your anger issues? Have you sought out help? Don't forget that I'm always here for you to help dieal with your issues if you need me. Don't hesitate to let me know, OK hon? And I realize you are a vegetarian that chooses not to eat fish, ( I don't eat it either) but for vegetarians that do eat fish, which do you think is healthier, farm raised or those caught in the wild? With the recent scare regarding the tainted imported feed that was fed to the fish, I'm leaning twords the wild caught for now. I know it can be a bit more costly, but with all the effort we vegetarians put into eating a healthy diet, it makes sense for vegetarians that eat fish to make sure it's not tainted, don't you think so to?

EDIT BEEBS As always, good information. You really are a wealth knowlege. I had no idea about the envelopes, that really surprised me. Thanks!

EDIT ALADIN I hope that you have a nice day as well, honest.

EDIT "M" What a pile of hooie! I know that mankind has screwed alot of things up, but come on sweetie, we are lesser than animals? Speak for yourself. To think so little of ones self is not healthy, perhaps you are just a little insecure with who and what you are. Work on those characteristics that make you think so little of yourself, and who knows, in a little while perhaps you can join the rest of us in a little place I like to call reality.

Hi BLUE Thanks for your insight. I posted this in the vegetarian section because I know lots of real vegetarians and vegans that eat fish. I know that not all of them don't eat fish, in case that's what you were trying to tell me.

2007-05-14 07:42:53 · update #9

Hi KATIE G I know lots of veggies that eat fish. And I get what you are saying, I do understand that all veggies do not eat fish. It's optional. I get that. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Hello GOODYTOSHOES I understand that vegetarians don't eat meat. I said that some veggies eat fish, but I never said veggies eat meat. And I understand that eating fish is optional, but meat is not. Sorry if I was not clear.

2007-05-14 07:47:31 · update #11

MICHAEL I understand that "NOT ALL" vegetarians eat fish. However, many of them do. I know plenty of vegetarians that eat fish, and a few vegans as well. Maybe you are talking about if the fish is fried in lard then it is not vegetarian. However, if the fish is fried in vegetable oil then it is veggie friendly. Alot of my vegan friends frequently go to Long John Silvers and were shocked when one of the cashiers told them the fish was fried in lard. Fortunately, this proved to be false, so good old Long Johns is still cool for veggies. On a personal note, I am a vegetarian that does not eat fish. However, after looking at your avitar I have a strange craving for some KFC. It's finger lickin good! But not for me, I don't eat chicken either.

Actually, not all agree with the given definitions here.

http://www.biology-online.org/dictionary/Pescovegetarian

"A vegetarian who consumes dairy products, eggs, and fish, but does not consume other animal flesh."

Ok let's repeat:

VEGETARIANS DON'T EAT FISH.

What do you mean by
"I only mentioned the fish since this is the vegetarian forum, and the consumption of pigs and chickens is not considered vegetarian."
???

I know that many people who gave up meat for health reasons, think that vegetarianism includes eating fish. But it doesn't, really. Fish are animals.

Please post this in meat eating section, if you haven't already. It might save a life or two (animal as well as human!).

Just because you might know of some people who call themselves vegetarian or vegan while eating fish does not mean that you can actually be vegetarian or vegan while eating fish. They are wrong. Fish will never be vegetarian. Just like you understand that things like eating pigs and chickens and lard is not vegetarian, please come to understand that neither is fish. I could just as easily tell you that I've heard of various people who called themselves vegetarian while eating those things and act like therefore some vegetarians do eat it, but you would know that that means that those people actually aren't vegetarian, so please understand this when it comes to fish as well. Of course this was 8 years ago so you have probably figured this out by now.

A true Vegetarian doesn't eat any fish! Fish is a meat! Vegetarians don't eat meat! What are you doing here warning a Vegetarian about eating fish?

psst... fishes are meat, fish- eaters are called piscivores ... but you know that already, don't you?... so, I guess that you are just messing with people. Funny...

If you wanna help someone, then go tell the meat-eaters(like someone suggested)... That would be nice of you.

-->(addressed to the people that are reading this, thinking that vegetarians eat fish)
-->Real vegetarians don't eat fish.

Have a nice day "nice guy" talk to ya later.

***Oh, It's great here on the dark side... Hot as hell, but hey gotta live with it I guess. How is the weather up there on that pedestal you put yourself on?... Nice I bet, huh?

I think that it's considerate of you to warn those "fake" vegetarians out there that eat fish... And I completely agree that fish caught in the wild would be healthier... of course it would be... anything that hasn't been subjected to factory farm conditions, would have to be healthier And have to say one more time,
Vegetarians don't eat fish...
See ya later.

Just wanted to let you know that the reason you are treated with such hostility in the v and v forums may have alot to do with the fact you are a seriously misinformed "vegetarian". Vegetarians don't eat fish, as much as you wish it so. If it is the label you desire, then reevaluate your reasons for doing that which you do.

NO vegetarian eats fish.

Go and be deranged somewhere else.

EDIT.
I have read your other questions.
You are a vegetarian - but you say that animals have no rights?!! (in "is it immoral to eat meat?")
Oh, please....
Also, a vegetarian should know that a person that eats fish is not a vegetarian.

And you suggest piles of supplements to vegans? HELLOO, we wish to eat nice fresh food, not some chemicals. Where do you think other veggie animals (from orangutans to elephants etc) get their vitamins and minerals from? Pills?

EDIT 2
It is not up to humans to decide which species has what rights. No wise person has to demonstrate his wisdom by enslaving others and dictating what rights they have. If we really were so clever, we'd find a way how to make things better, how to make the world better, but all we do is fight, sow pain, and destroy our environment. We are sawing off the branch we are sitting on, and most of the people don't even realize that.
We are able, very able, but dumb. And greedy. And that makes US lesser then animals!

Lurking around here again - and since the one person hasn't shown up - yet - thought that I would 'share' their tagline:

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

What on earth are you doing here warning people about fish for ?

Vegetarians don't eat fish.

The internationally recognised defintion is: "A vegetarian does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products."

anyone who eats fish is not veggie, its quite simple really.

anything else is just made up nonsense.

Unless of cause you are friends of fox hunter guy and here to wind us all up....not really working though, just wasting our time.
