Take Magic Johnson for example. Everybody knows that he had Aids for a very long time, but recently he was declared clean from the HIV/AIDS virus. How can you be cured like him if there is no known cure?

Hi there Mr Anderson,
There are to many IF,but's and maybe's in HIV science... I became very suspicious 17 years ago when people I knew died from Aids but were never HIV+...After all, HIV is claimed to be the cause of AIDS and yet there are and were people dying of Aids but were never positive to HIV....try figuring that one out...when ever you ask a question you never get a straight answer....instead you get abused with puerile vitriol and have your name slurred in mud. Sadly this is how certain members of the Aids orthodoxy treats you when you have a legitimate question and they can't or wont answer it.
May I suggest you take a very good look at the following Google Video as this will enlighten you on some of your questions. Good luck.....

Current therapies for treating HIV infection are very good as long as patients are adherent to their doctor's instructions and continue taking their meds when and how they are supposed to. Although many of the drugs have a number of side effects and are very expensive, they can keep the viral load low and prevent the onset of AIDS.

There are two problems to ever determining if there is a "cure" for HIV infection. The first is that any current test for HIV infection has to have a significant viral load (I'm not sure what the detection limit is) before you register a postive test. So, being declared clean simply means "below the level of detection," not really free of any viral infection. The other thing to remember is that the infection actually hinges on the integration of the viral genome into the host cell (T-cell's) genome. In other words, even if there is no detectable virus, it still could be latent and simply waiting for the right signal to start producing more virus from cells already infected.

Secondly, there is no real way to test this ethically. If someone (Magic Johnson, for example) were to test "clean" or below the detectable limit of viral infection... how do you ask them to stop taking their medication and risk the progression to full blown AIDS? This is also a problem in new drug development, because the testing of new drugs in clinical trials requires patients to maintain their normal drug regimine and then add the new potential drug (or in late stage full blown AIDS patients). So, you can see that you may not notice a big change or improvement in their condition if they are still on a full regimine of anti-HIV meds or already severely immunocompromised.

At this stage, it still is the belief of most people that there will not be a "cure" for HIV infection, but a lifelong treatment w/ meds that can be more easily tolerated (less side effects), prevent the onset of resistance (another serious problem I didn't talk about) and with a reduced cost. Efforts are also being made for a vaccine to prevent infection altogether.

Magic Johnson did not claim to be cured.

It is possible to reduce the amount of the virus. The Viral Load test that is done measure the number of virus per millilitre of blood. This hardly means a cure, just a lowered rate of virus in the body.

He may not have AIDS but he should still have HIV.

There is no cure, it's a virus.

AIDS is the terminal stage for people living with HIV.

When HIV in a person damages enough CD4 cells so that person is not able to maintain his/her immune system and is prone to opportunistic infections the person is said to acquire AIDS.

There are many persons who are HIV positive but because of change in their life style they are able to keep themselves AIDS free. So healthy life style is a key to protect HIV person from turning to AIDS
