The genital herpes virus can still be spread through the skin although there are no visible signs of an outbreak. This is called asymptomatic viral shedding. Up to 70% of people catch genital herpes from an infected partner who has no signs or symptoms. And since the symptoms are not always obvious, nine out of ten people who have genital herpes don't know.
For this question, i think my blog will do some help to you: http://www.positivesingles.com/blog/hgirlemily. I am encouraged after I post these blogs here. I think U will too

Okay I'm a little confused about your question. Are you sure you mean genital warts (caused by HPV) or do you mean genital herpes caused by the herpes simplex virus?

There is NO test for men to detect HPV, so it's basically impossible for him to have had a blood test done to detect that. Most men find out they have HPV by developing genital warts from it. But, not all people with HPV get genital warts. Many people have no idea they have the virus and that's why it is so common.

It IS possible he got tested for genital herpes using a blood test though. And it IS possible for you to contract the virus from him - protection or not - outbreak or not.

Genital herpes can be spread even if the guy is wearing a condom. Genital herpes and HPV can be spread by DIRECT skin to skin contact. So, even if the guy is wearing a condom, it's only covering the penis and not the whole genital area. The rubbing back and forth of the genital areas during sex is enough to spread the viruses.

Also, genital herpes can be spread whether the person is on an outbreak or not (HPV can also be spread this way). I personally contract genital herpes 6 years ago from a guy I had sex with ONE time. He wasn't showing any signs or symptoms of an outbreak.

Are you sure he tested positive for herpes simplex virus 2 (usually genital herpes) or did he test positive for herpes simplex virus 1 (usually cold sores)?

Yes you can still catch it even if he's not having an outbreak.

if hes covered with a condom you should be fine ....especially with no signs of it , when it shows in the blood work it just means hes has been exposed and has the anti body in his blood ,....

Even if he does not, you may not catch it. It depends on your own defense system orlevels at the time.
