Peachy, I see your point regarding other diseases that people may know nothing about, but I think my issue and probably this poster's issue as well is not that people do not know about my condition, it is the fact of everything that they "think" they know about diabetes. Any time that I tell someone about my condition, I specifically state I have type 1 diabetes. More often than not people then start ranting off unsolicited advice about diets, herbs, cures, etc. that may be good advice for a type 2, but have nothing to do with my condition. That is where it is frustrating. I doubt many fibromyalgia or Morgellons patients have to deal with that on a daily basis.

Type 1 diabetes means you body makes no or very little insulin.

Type 2 you have insulin but your body can't utilize it correctly.

There is no reason to be offended, it's just type 2 has been in the news more lately.

I have type 2, but; I'm on an insulin pump so people think I have type 1, so what? This should be my biggest problem!

You sound stressed out, and if you are that will raise your glucose no matter what type you have.

Your pain (and pissed offness) is felt by many brother (or sister). Your in the boat with the guy or gal who has lung cancer and never touched a pall mall. It's really not your fault but the ignorant will give you the crook eye.

However, life is too short to be concerned about the four to five billion people in the world that don't understand diabetes.

That most important people already understand. Your family and close friends already know that you didn't bring this on yourself.

If the topic ever comes out, just point it out. 'Hey man, I was born with this problem, I didn't get it from chasing the dough nut wagon'.

Show some love to the Type 2s thought there too though. Thousands of people ended up Type 2's that didn't deserve it via the old family gene. At the end of the day, Type 1 and Type 2 gotta stick together and work together towards the cure for both. Type 1 may not be preventable but someday, it will be defeated by working together.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yes, I know. Having to take one or more insulin injections daily (type 1) takes a much greater toll emotionally, physically, and psychologically than having type 2 diabetes, since it can be controlled with diet and oral medication.
Consider the source. Many people don't know the difference between type 1 and type 2.

um. well. um. let's see. if there was no difference between "type 1" and "type 2" diabetes, why would physicians have bothered delineating the two types? i think everyone knows there IS a difference. does it MATTER to them? probably not.

your question concerns me, morally, and i am going to call you on it. why are you offended that people think you have "type 2"? do you believe that you are somehow better than people with "type 2" ? is your logic that because your diabetes was "genetic", it's not "your fault", and as such, you're entitled to more pity than someone with "type 2"? please. get off your high horse, you bigot.

you need to read a little more about the etiology of both diseases, and realize that there is a genetic component to both of them before you get all offended. i am sick and tired of people blaming people for their illnesses.

and sorry if this hurts... but with several family members with type 2 diabetes, i have encountered this blame the victim mentality all too often.

so i'm going to tell you something that you need to know: whether you have type 1 or type 2, you will end up with your choice of kidney failure, peripheral neuropathy, retinopathy, and probably a heart attack if you don't manage it correctly.

so please take care of your diabetes, whatever type it is. and try and be a bit more compassionate to your fellow human beings.

I know what you mean. I feel that way too sometimes. Reading some peoples responses I think they react that way because they don't have type 1 diabetes. I know how ya feel, you're not alone. I just try and tell people when I can. I don't think that people understand type 1 diabetes unless they have it. Just my opinion!

You should learn to get over it. Do you know what fibromyalgia is? Or Morgellons disease? If not, do you think patients with those diseases should get offended by your ignorance. Come on, now. The only reason I know the difference between type 1 and 2 is because I have type two and read a whole bunch on the subject. When I found out I was T2, I was scared to death I would have to inject insulin all the time. Should I be offended at myself for not knowing the difference? Of course not. Grow up, for Pete's sake.
