I developed warts and went to the doctor who told me about HPV. Before these two years with this partner, I was without sexual activity for two or three years. Could it be possible that a previous partner could have infected me more than five years ago. I have not seen any wart in my actual partner. All these symptoms began after our relation.

I was with my ex-husband for 8 years. After him a year later I was seeing someone for 6 months. We had sex once. Then I regreted it, so I told him I got back with my ex-husband. That was 2 1/2 years ago. 3 weeks ago I got an HPV outbreak. It's not too bad, but I think why me. I've only been with 2 people. I know I got it from my 6 month relationship, because after we had sex a saw 2 tiny warts at the bottom of his penis, but I thought they were moles. I know now they weren't, because they look like the 2 warts I have. I'm using Aldara and I hope I never get another outbreak again and that someday I'll be in a loving relationship and marriage again. I hope everything works out for you and your relationship now. There is no test for HPV for men, but your partner should be tested for everything else. You should ask your doctor to test you for all STD's. It is possible you contacted HPV with a previous partner. It can take up to 10 years to have a first outbreak. Your current partner could of gotten HPV from a previous partner also and given it to you. It doesn't mean he went out of your relationship. I hope things work out for you. Good Luck.

HPV can take many years to show up. I'm not sure that this is exact but I believe it can show up like 15 years after it was actually contracted. There should be some info on the net. Put HPV in your search engine and I'm sure you'll find some . Good Luck !!

Warts can take a LONG time to show up.

I have personally had HPV for over 6 years. I developed genital warts from my HPV a little over a year ago. It took me 5 years to develop them!

So, it's definitely possible you got it from a previous partner and they just haven't showed up till now.

But, it's also possible your partner might have cheated (you can't completely rule that out).

Good luck!

Could have been even longer ago than that. That is why it is so important to use protection and get regular std tests even when not sexually active. Make sure he gets tested-I hope you have low risk HPV. Sorry to hear about it. That is for life. Always were protection. No matter what the other person claims.
