You will need anticoagulation medicines to get rid of a blood clot in your lung. It is potentially life threatening.

Tiny clots are trivial and your body will dissolve them without help.

Large clots can block off a big proportion of the blood supply to your lungs and can therefore lead to your death.

If you suspect you have a blood clot in your lung you should attend an emergency department.

The chances of death increase with the size of the clot, if you in fact have one.

ANY blood clot in the lung is serious. Most patients are treated with anticoagulation using heparin and coumadin. In critical patients, an attempt may be made to dissolve it with TPA or, in extreme cases, surgical thrombectomy.
