Have you noticed that whenever people want to pick on a religion, they always start with Christianity? Whenever people are surprised, they always choose Jesus' name to use in vein. I mean why not "Oh my Buddha!", or "Oh Allah!" instead of "Jesus Christ!". It gets on my neves. Why do you think they do this?

Just to let you guys know, I am not saying in any way that Christians are perfect. They make their share of mistakes, just like anyone else.

Romans 3:23 says:
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

As far as the question, Christians aren't the only ones being persecuted, but all people who put their faith in Christ in general are as well. I agree with most of your answers, and there are a few really good answers. Although, there are some who call Christians and our God "whiny". We'll see how whiny God is when He returns.

Revelation 20:10-15 says:
"And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

As you can see, God gives us one chance to follow Him. Any who choose not to will be thrown into Hell, or what the Bible calls the Lake of Fire. This is NOT something to joke about.

I think we should’ve gotten used to it by now. Our church has always been persecuted, our Lord been ridiculed for the glory that is really all His. We should be thankful we didn’t get to experience those times when Christians are actually fed to lions & murdered for entertainment in coliseums. There are still countries where the Truth cannot be told freely, and we are very fortunate to have lived in a place where we can only “hear” persecution most of the time, like the example you said. But I’m with you, I hurt whenever they put my Lord’s name in vain; I hurt when the only person who will never turn His back on me is given all these blasphemes and pushed down on the ground. I hurt when they question His purposes and deny Him His identity as Creator, Savior and Light. Like any daughter, I hurt when my Father is ridiculed that way. But what do we expect from unbelievers, anyway? God will deal with them, everything will be accounted for. As for us, we need to project these hurts in a more constructive way, being firm to what we believe in, being ready to answer the questions for the hope we have, sharing the Word when there’s opportunity. We can never stop this; it is the will of God that everything happens this way. But in His perfect time, everything will work out together for good.

"I will not share my glory with another" (Isaiah 42:8)

He never did. He never will. All glory to God.

Why are Christians picked on?
Let me see.
Maybe because they're not entirely blameless.
Does the text of a question obviously posted by a Christian, obviously designed to cause hurt, back up my assertion?

"Do you understand that you are an enemy of God?
Following my last question, I get the feeling that some people think that the Christian God should love and save everyone. Don't you know that you are an enemy of God? God is sending everyone in hell unless they believe in Jesus and repent".

I'm sorry if you feel your feathers have been ruffled, and I'm sure you've received more than your fair share of sympathy, but keep in mind that Christians are also capable of deeply offending people.

I suppose that's okay though, because, as I've been told here, Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.
That kind of smugness earns you no friends.

Sorry to have to tell you the unpalatable truth.

What I find almost laughable is the main gripe they have. It is how we Christians are always trying to force our belief on them, and yet they come on this site regularly. Secretly they have a profound interest, so just keep witnessing. There may be a few that will accept the truth of Jesus Christ if they can lower their pride shield a little

Because the Buddhists don't have a history of persecuting 'infidels' and how many of them are there on this side of the world, really?

Allah is Arabic for the Abrahamic God, so same thing as 'God' but not really culturally significant in the West..

I assume you're from the United States where Christianity is by far the dominant religion. I'm sure people in Asia have their own expressions and criticisms that have nothing to do with Christianity.

Maybe if you were in China, you'd hear 'Oh, my Buddha'. Or in India, who knows what expression they use. The 'word of God' to them doesn't bother them at all, much like Winnie the Pooh doesn't bother anyone here, so you won't hear them using Jesus' or God's name. I usually exclaim 'Jiminy Christmas' now, b/c the habit grew out of not wanting to offend those around me. Habits do not make any character more real.

We don't wrestle against flesh and blood. It is the evil within them and the only enemy Satan has is Christ Jesus. The devil fears God only. Satan doesn't fear Buddha or Allah because the devil created them.

Funny, but even Nebuchadnezzer, King of Babylon, knew there was only One God - Daniel's God. Only Daniel and Daniel's God could tell him his dream and what his dream meant.

Jesus said, because they hated Me, they will hate you.

Only 2 religions - God and man.

Here in the West, it's Christians who bogger everyone around.

If I lived in a Sharia country (shudder) I'd be moaning at them, but here Xians are responsible for censorship, persecution and general gormlessness.

Christianity is the single most infuential religion in the world for the last 2000 years. They've also been the most oppressive, hateful, and willing to hurt people to convert them.

Thats why.

Shock value. "Oh, Buddha" won't bother too many people in America, caus' there are so few Budhists. Part of letting off steam is saying something that will cut to the quick.
