Is it true that the oil used to fry food in fast food restaurants such as BurgerKing and McDonald is animal oil and made out of animal fat? Because it's cheaper!!!

No, I don't think so, but they do cook the fries in the same fryer that was used to fry meat, alot of the time, so I guess you could say that it is along the same lines.
They used partially- hydrogenated vegetable oils(not good for you) but McDonald's fries are not vegetarian because of their ingredients anyway... they contain natural beef flavoring.
If you really wanted fast food fries then burger king would be a better bet, I think, They supposedly use a separate fry fryer(ya know just for fries) And the actual ingredients in the fries are vegetarian(unlike McDonald's) And Wendy's fries are vegetarian in their ingredients also, but they may be fried in the same fryer as chicken and other meat.
I would suggest if you are a vegetarian, to just stay away from fast food altogether... you never know what you are going to get.
Here is the links to the ingredient pages for these major fast food places:

I don't know whether it's true (I know it once was true that BK used beef to flavor their fries). I don't think oils made from animal fat are cheaper than those made from vegetables and soy. I used to work in a diner and our fry-o-later used soybean oil. And our boss was as cheap as you can imagine, so it must be cheaper.

On a related note, I recently discovered that Hostess Pies are made with beef fat. That's not a lie or a rumor; it's listed in the ingredients.

Hiya =) well, I heard this a while ago, that they fried their fries in beef lard and that their milkshakes are made of chicken fat, but I don't know if they are just rumours. I don't really eat that stuff anyway, but where I live, after that came out, they did this huge ad thing about them being 100% natural. THEN, I heard that they use 'natural' preservatives - stuff they call natural but aren't. According to fast food nation, there is more than just animal fat! We'll never know for sure... xx

The food is not fried in animal fat, they use vegetable oil, the chicken & fish are fried in seperate vats than the french fries, but there is lard in almost every fast food bun. so if you order a "veggie whopper" you are still eating lard.
Just ask the resturant for their food values information. It lists the nutritional values as well as the ingredients of all thier products

No its against the law for them to "fry" in fat.. But Mc Death does coat there fries with a beef fat flavoring in the process of cutting the potatoes and packaging them..

i know mcd's used to use veggie oil but added the beef 'flavoring.' (ick).
the basic rule: when you're in doubt at a place, don't chance it & try something else on the menu, or go somewhere else. usually a place will have no problem telling you what oil they use in their fryers.
(note for mexican restaurants, too: of course, be skeptical about whether or not there's lard in a restaurant's beans and/or some kind of animal stock used to 'flavor' their rice.)

It is said that most of the Cheap restaurants use Tallo(is it pig's fat?) for frying the food materials.
