It scares me how much people are willing to answer questions w/ out the knowledge of the virus. They probably don't have it and that is why they are answering...
Take it from me who has HPV. Your immune system only surpresses the virus and the longer it's surpressed the less of a chance it is to have your cells change or develop genital warts.
There is no cure for HPV. There are over 300 strands of HPV but your body all in time will surpress the virus...there is no medical fact that can prove when your body has completely cleared the virus. Once you have it you have it...
You shouldn't be scared of something that you can manage.
HPV is very managable and as long as you keep going to your doctor you will be fine. =)
BY THE WAY Gardasil is for women age range of 9-26.
Even if you have HPV you can still get the vaccine. It will prevent you from getting other strands....it's rare for anybody to have all 4 major strands of HPV.
NOTE: HPV four major strands are High Risk 16 and 18 that cause 70% of Cervical Cancer and the other two strands are low risk that cause 90% of Genital Warts.
Please research on the virus and realize that there are way more worse things out there other than HPV...life is not over, your not going to die and yes you can still live a normal life and have children.
Good luck!

HPV does not clear out of your body. All it really is, is a virus that puts you at high risk for cervical cancer. If you do contract HPV it only means you need to have routine pap smears more often than most women. Gardisil is a shot given to prevent HPV in women 12-24. It will not cure it. You'd be surprised, HPV is common among women. It hasn't changed my life any.

I bet you think the answer is either yes or no. Sorry, the real world doesn't work that way. There are people with huge fungating masses of warts who have to have massive skin grafts. Most people's immune systems keep them out of that mess. On the other hand, it obviously isn't always a minor, brief illness like a cold, or you wouldn't be scared. The truth is a wide range of answers.
