Pretty much everybody snores. Even my cat. It is loose tissue inside the throat that makes that sound as the sleeper inhales and exhales deeply. Sometimes surgery can cure bad snoring. Also, there is a spray you can buy that is like a numbing/shrinking agent that you spray into your mouth before you go to sleep. It works for a little while. What really works well is if the awake person stuffs some 32 db noise reduction earplugs in their ears, or takes a sleeping pill.

there may be some reasons for that. Go to see the doctor - sometimes people snore when they have small throat problems. Do not let ur husband sleep on his back - in this lay the throat opens and the sound is even echoing! He should also try a smaller pillow. I bet the snore gets stronger when he's ill so he should avaoid getting cold. However, it may take time so be patient and good luck!

Snoring is usually caused by not being able to breathe through your nose. If those Breathe Right strips don't work it might be something that you'll need to talk to a doctor about.

People usually snore because of obstructions in their throat. Getting specialized therapy can help stop you from snoring at night. If you think you have a problem with that, talk to your doctor.

The cheap version - snore strips, you can get 'em at the drug store. The problem with them is getting your snorer to wear them.
The expensive version - there's a surgery to get 'de-snored'. It's expensive, it's very very painful, but it works. I do know an attorney who got it and it wasn't fully effective and he had to get the surgery again. He said he coudln't have imagined how painful it was. When it didn't fully work he really didn't want to go back under the knife but his wife told him if he didn't she would divorce him. As she was a divorce attorney, this was no idle threat!
