STDs used to be called venereal diseases or VD.

The germs that cause STDs hide in semen, blood, vaginal secretions, and sometimes saliva. Most of the organisms are spread by vaginal, anal, or oral sex...

To answer your question, yes you can get VD from oral sex...

Yes. Chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, HIV, HPV, syphilis, yeast infections...

One thing to keep in mind is that an oral yeast infection is called thrush.

HSV-1 (herpes simplex virus 1 - oral) and HSV-2 (herpes simplex 2 - genital) can BOTH be transmitted between oral and genital areas, with HSV-1 being most often cross-transmitted. In other words, you can get oral herpes on your genitals, and you can get genital herpes in your mouth. It is a fact that neither is exclusive to an area, rather they are predominantly found in the area of the identifying strain.

My understanding is that there is vaginal herpes and oral herpes, but you can catch them in the opposite places. So oral sex with someone who has vaginal herpes can lead to having vaginal herpes on your mouth.
