At the gym before workout I found my blood pressure to be 160/87. I had it checked at my employment and it was about the same. The next 2 times I was at the gym I took my BP before exercising and it was high and afterwards it lower (but still not normal) to about 143/80.

that is good though=I have been told to do exercises for the very same reason too=your heart is working better when you exercise =that's why the reading is better

I am assuming your after exercise reading is right after, and not several minutes. I would talk to your doctor about it. It may be nothing, but BP usually increases during physical activity (your heart has to work harder to keep up with the demands). It could be a sign of something going on, or it could be nothing. I am not a doctor and so only know the basics of BP. Another factor could be how big of a drop from the high to the low you are looking at, BP fluctuates over time. I could take two readings on two days and get different numbers (though they should be close if I have been doing the same activities), so if it is only a few points, it could be this normal flux, but if it is several points i.e. 160 to 143 from before to after, I would say that is not normal. Something to consider though, is how long after exercise you take your reading. My heart rate and BP returns to normal or close to it pretty quickly since I am fairly active, others take longer. So that could be skewing the results too. If the reading is right after though, and is a significant drop, I would just run it by your doctor just to be safe as he/she would be far better qualified than I to answer this..

Exercise is a known combatant of high b/p. Yours is not terribly high, but enough to put you in the high b/p category. If you haven't already, omit as much salt from your diet as possible. Increase foods that are high in potassium, and continue to work out. If you cannot get it down within a six week time frame, you should see your doctor.

When u move it goes up. When u sit down and relax it goes down. That's good 143-80.
