Good idea to start now. You should: 1) eat sensibly ie) heart smart labelled foods 2) keep fit...excercise regularly...the heart is a muscle so it is in the same shape as your other muscles 3) do not become overweight...each 10 lbs of fat (above your recommended weight) has 150 miles of extra vessels (includes all the little arterioles) and therefore the heart has to pump it's blood through all those extra vessels in the required minute...therefore making the heart work alot harder.
So read labels on foods to see the fat content. Also see the cholesterol amount on these labels (the cholesterol in your arteries decreases the amount of room for the blood to flow and again makes the heart work harder.
These are only a few suggestions....I'm sure you can get alot more on a website. Also it's never too early to start being healthy as heart attacks are more common from ages 35-45 in men (not sure of the ages for women but I think it's slightly later). Take care.

This question certainly does suit your age. Now is the right time for you to take care of your health. The best thing you can do is eat properly and exercise. A diet that is low in fat and high in fiber is heart healthy. Also you need to exercise every day. You need to also have your cholesterol and your blood sugar checked each year. Believe me, it's not too early to start thinking about your health. Most people don't learn their lesson until they are older and begin to suffer from health problems. If you start taking care of yourself now you will definitely have a healthier life, and you will develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

I'm glad your asking at an early age, I wouldnt be sick now if I had known. Dont smoke, exercise regularly, and mostly , watch what you eat. Avoid fast food. Limit your fat intake. Some heart disease is hereditary and cant be avoided. Doing the above helps.

Plenty of cardovascular exercise and a good diet. And a stress free lifestyle. At sixteen life should be just a healthy ball.

It's good to think of this at your young age. Eat a health diet, excercise and don't smoke are a good rule to live by.

Don't drink too much alcohol
Avoid fried foods, lots of fatty foods, such as butter, cream, pastry, etc (check labelling on packets)
