Pulp Fiction, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Eraserhead....

Actually, Napoleon Dynamite is still pretty funny, and clean enough for 8th graders. They goofy kids still like doing the movie lines. Also get some jiffy pop popcorn; the kind in the little frying pan container that you have to cook on the stovetop. It puffs up into a big aluminum ball-most kids have never seen popcorn cooked on the stovetop.

Is this a slumber party? I don't recommend scary horror movies. Still freaks some kids out. Plan a few games with little prizes like silly putty or flarp (those plastic containers of goo you squeeze to make fart noises). Maybe a "gross olympics" theme, like longest burp or who can make the "ugliest face". Or who can cram the most saltines into their mouth.

Enjoy the thirtenth; my daughter turns fourteen tommorow and she just wants me to drop her off at the movies to hang out "with her girlfriends...."

The safest thing to do is ask the Birthday boy/girl in advance. You can guarantee it will need to be the latest release so don't waste time and money on something that might embarass them.

13 is the age when every decision matters with their peers, so play it safe and ask.

If it's girls - Girls Just Want To Have Fun is a classic that kids that age usually enjoy. The clothes and dancing are fun to laugh at now too cause they're so 80s but the plot is still good.

If the party is for a girl, you can show movies like Mean Girls, Can't buy me love, Ferris Beuller's day off, Can't Hardly wait, and Empire Records.

For a boy's party, show movies like TMNT, Ferris Beuller's day off, or any superhero movie.
