It may mean kidney disease and possible need for dialysis. Is he taking "water"pills like furosemide or lasix? It is very dangerous to have such high numbers and the fluid could be fatal,.Please watch that he follows doctor's orders!!
Please get a second opinion if this doctor doesn't take proper care.
I suggest you get an ambulance to take him to the ER now!

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

High blood pressure is dangerous but I also believe low is equally dangerous. I'd suggest seeing the doctor if you're constantly getting low pressure. I have a friend who has that as well. She has thalassemia and is therefore anaemic and has a whole lot of problems. Once she's sick she's really sick and for the whole past week she had low blood pressure. See the doc, see what he needs to say.

It sounds really serious to me. Normal (healthy younger people, not sure about seniors) blood pressure is 120/80 and really they say it should be more like 100-110/80. Fluid around the heart can cause alot of damage and possibly impend it's beating process. It all sounds bad to me. I'm really sorry. Discuss it with the nurses and home health care people. I would say if the doctor seems calm about it and isn't doing anything that you need a 2nd opinion.

My husband is only 43 and about 5 yrs ago his was almost that high and his dentist wouldn't even pull his toothe. Water around the heart usually means congentive heart failure. I would be in the ER right now, not on the internet.
