Most UTIs are caused by enteric bacteria. The remainder are due to sexually transmitted pathogens, mycobacteria, fungi. The predominant parasitic diseases are filariasis, trichomoniasis, leishmaniasis, malaria, and schistosomiasis. Of the parasites, only trichomoniasis is common in the US. Adenoviruses are implicated in hemorrhagic cystitis.
Bacterial UTIs can involve the urethra, prostate, bladder, or kidneys. Symptoms may be absent or include urinary frequency, urgency, and dysuria; lower abdominal pain; and flank pain. Systemic symptoms and even sepsis may occur with kidney infection. Diagnosis is based on analysis and culture of urine. Treatment is with antibiotics.
Fungal infections of the urinary tract primarily affect the bladder and kidneys.

UTI's are related but are not STD's. In fact there is a condition called "honeymooners cystitis" borrowing from the fact that multiple sessions of intercourse in a short time can predispose a woman to an UTI - whether the man is circumsized or not. Its not clear why this is the case but it is presumed that insertion close to the uretral opening and/or irriatation of the area contributes.
As another respondant suggested. Urinating after intercourse is a good practice. You might also think of using cranberry juice or supplements preventatively if you are prone to getting them frequently.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

no, although sometimes it seems like it might be. Duringthe thrusting of sex bacteria from both persons genitiles get force up the urethra and cause a UTI. the best way to lessen the chances of this is to wash before sex to urinate before and after and to wash again after.

Its been proven that they can be sexually related. I'm not sure exatly how. But I've heard that men can carry a germ that causes them. I don't know about that part being true or not though. But I do know if your having sex with a man that's dirty, it increases your chances of getting one.

umm, yeah. If a guy isn't circumsized, the foreskin is a perfect little home for bugs to grow in, and then, in it goes and the bugs suddenly have found themselves in a spacious little condo called urinary tract heaven!

yes, because when you have sex, sometimes the e.coli bacteria backs up into the bladder wall and grows and once it's there, it grows. that's why when one has sex, go to the rest room afterwards within 15 minutes.
