What is a unique and delicious wedding dessert besides cake?

Question

If I had cake, it would be $3.75 per person cake cutting fee, too expensive. I was thinking of chocolate dipped strawberries, but what other possibilities are there? something that the hotel would not need to cute themselves, something that comes individual. When the guests walk in, they're gonna expect to see a cake, and when they don't, I'm gonna need a good replacement. They're not gonna be too impressed when they see a whole buncha strawberries layin' out on a table!

Actually the tradition of wedding cakes started with the piling of several smaller cakes on top of each other. In this vein, you could do individual cakes or tortes, and create the illusion of stacking by tiering them.

You could have different varieties so that people could pick their poison, or even make plain cakes, and allow people to add their own sauce (e.g. chocolate, raspberry etc...)

We did not have a cake at our wedding and it was fine. Instead we asked a few people to help make assorted desserts and just had a table set up with a variety of goodies. Some of the things we made were: different cookies, individual cheese cakes, bars and cupcakes.

i dont see why people couldn't cut cake for themselves really or have a family member do the cutting,I'm sure you could pay someone 20 to stand there for 1 hour and cut a bunch of it as well and let people wonder up on there own and pick it up..or do cupcakes i think you can have a do it yourself thing and it would be fine though.just an idea there are a ton of cakes ,cup cakes its sort of cute take a look congratulations

Well I like the ideas everyone else has. I had a friend who at her wedding didnt want a cake so she did a chocolate fountain with strawberries and other fruit and she also got an italian cookie platter for those who didnt eat chocolate and it worked out really well. Everyone loved it and i know a few other people who have done it since.

Chocolate fountain, with strawberries and marshmallows, where everyone expects a cake and you can feed eachother instead of cutting cake. and people can just come up anytime.

Yeah, something like cup cakes (the ones that look like butterflies) would be nice.

You could have plated dessert like little pots of vanilla brulee but that would be expensive, but ooh so yummy...

Cupcakes seem to be the cat's meow these days and I've seen all kinds decorated to reflect the bride's tastes! But, I've also seen towering baklava, and a greek pastry of little dough balls filled with custard and drizzled with a sugar web. Anyway, its your special day, so you can have whatever you want! Think about a chocolate fountain, or cheesecake (yum, raspberry white chocolate!), or even individual apple pies! Best Wishes!

A tower of mini iced cupcakes.

They're super cute, individual and can be stacked up high to form a cake shape.

Also - a tower of Ferrero Rochers - I saw this at a party and it looked great and people could just pull off one little bite.

Not sure what hotel you are to be married at, but the hotel I work at waives the cake cutting fee if you do not order seperate dessert, but do, in fact, eat the cake.

Cupcakes are the rage these days! They come beautifully decorated and no cake cutting fee! you can also include a pretty box so guests may want to take theirs home.
