My 96 year old neighbor has heart failure for 25 years, shes still waiting for it to finish her life.

it depends whether it is an acute heart failure or chronic . As for the acute heart failure it need a continous monitoring for the first 48 hours as it is very critical and follow up . and for the chronic heart failure if it is well controlled it is not dangerous at all and the patient can continue his life as a normal person .

The Prognosis is extremely poor, but it's our moral obligation not to think to such an extent that one get carried away with the hope of living a happy whatever is left.
That is all i can say from experience, leave it to God, and you do your job, and let the doctors do their job.

If finishing your life is considered dangerous, than heart failure may be sometimes quite dangerous, from what I know.

I just lost my brother's in law brother. 37 years old, he died asleep, never been sick. Heart failure! It took just minutes!
