yes. i had septoplasty 3yrs ago. i had chronic sinusitis/post nasal drip too. doc told me i had a deviated septum & swollen turbinates. he felt it maybe causing the problem. had the surgery. stopped getting severe colds 4 times per year & could breath better on the side where the septum was most deviated, but otherwise, didn't stop the infections. finally did my own reseach. went to a new doc a few months ago. told me the surgery almost never works & in some cases can make it worse! well i knew it ddn't work for me. she said there's a theory that the chronic sinus infections can be caused by an overgrowth of yeast (candida albicans) in the body. put me on a yeast & sugar free diet. i started it & did my own reasearch. found that a lot of people are in the same boat. almost no doc out there knows how to cure chronic sinus infections. they keep giving antibiotics but it works for a while but can come back even worse.
bottom line - it worked! i also use grapefruit seed extract (GSE) to kill off the yeast in my body. it's a natural anti-fungal & antibiotic. there's a nasal spray called Xlear ( has GSE in it). got in in thevitamin shoppe. cleared up my post nasal dripin ONE DAY!! no joke. u can use any brand of nasal spray with GSE & it may help. i also take other anti-fungals such as caprylic acid & oil of oregano. i'm not saying you have to go on the diet, but at least try the nasal spray. google it online. it seems to help a lot of people.
all i know is after years of suffering, this is the ONLY this that helped me. most docs don't want to do natural medicine, but i'm so lucky mine did. if chronis sinus infection is your only problem try the GSE in a nasal spray b/f you do the surgery. it may save you lots of time and $.
also the Mayo Clinic did a study saying that all chronic sinus infections are probably caused by fungus. here's the link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1999/09/990910080344.htm
curezone.com also has some good advise. by the way, i've tried the netipot, where you rinse your nasal passages with saltwater. i've also tried the medicine which is supposed to thin your mucus, but nothin worked. good luck!

An excellent question. I've heard some say that they had wonderful improvement, but only when the doctors went in and made the nasal passages wider so the problem wouldn't come back.
I've suffered from chronic siniusitis for a decade, and would love to hear stories from those who had the surgery for I've been considering it myself. Thank you for asking this question!

I had it. Major deviation of my septum required surgery. Very painful and uncomfortable for 1 week after surgery. Felt immediate difference when splints were pulled from nose. 10 years since - best thing I ever did. Stuffed up nose, headaches, all gone. Still get colds, but not like before.

No, but I did have frequent sinus infections when I was in my early twenties - I don't anymore. To get rid of them I drank a lot of water (about a half gallon per day) to loosen things up / keep things loose. I also sniffed back a saline solution (just sea salt and warm water) that my doctor suggested twice a day. It sounds horrible, but made me feel clear for once. Sometimes I boiled water and put eucalyptus in it and put a towel over my head over the bowl and breathed in the steam for about 15 minutes. That can feel pretty good too. Good luck!

I have had many sinus infections...my cousin had surgery for his and didn't work well! He had more issues then he did with just treating sinus infections with nasal sprays and antibotics. Get a second opinion from another doctor! Feel better!
