My daughter turns 13 this weekend and is having a small party. She is not a cake-and-ice-cream fan, and in fact is pretty picky when it comes to any dessert food. Any unique suggestions?

GLAZE:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
3 tbsp. cornstarch

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:

3 oz. pkg. strawberry Jello
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 qt. sliced strawberries

I also have a non-cake type of daughter (14) and for the past 3 years I have made a chocolate chip cheesecake using the mini chips. Last year i made miniature cheesecakes using muffin pans. Use the paper liners and spray them lightly with pan coating like Pam and they will peel off easily. They were very popular with the other girls with lots of 'Oooooh, they're so cute!'

How about a dessert pizza? Use any cookie dough that comes in tube ready to use from story to cover pizza pan....bake and when cooled, frost lightly and top with fruit, candies, whatever. The kids love this.

My daughter will be 14 in a couple of months and she is the same way. For her party last year I used frozen fruit cups and frozen bananas..she had some friends that helped her make them with chocolate, sprinkles, nuts..I would let your daughter help you..she is old enough and will love it..good luck and have fun!

Since it's HER special day I would let her pick-and then add on from there. Does she like brownies? How about brownie sundae station for the group-choc sauce, whip cream, nuts, cherries, sprinkles, gummy bears,etc... The same idea could be used for choc. chip cookies & sundae station. Otherwise-how about smores?
