Different colours trigger different effects/emotions:

red - passion, anger, security

orange - creativity, sexuality

yellow - confidence, will power

green - unconditional love, healing

blue - peace, clarity

purple - beauty, spirituality, mysticism

pink - love

So determine what effect you want, and go from there.
