It is basically a powder that is blasted onto the surface then they put a glossy finish on it to protect it. Watch Unwrapped on Food Network and you shall see.

it is a sticker! if you place an m&m in a glass of water the sticker will float to the top we did it in science class in middle school.

i have no idea but my friend quit working there because he kept on messing up he would always put W's on them
