No, Chronic bronchitis is permanent, usually caused by smoking and is a COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), often a "precursor" of emphysema.

Acute bronchitis is contagious, sickness lasts about a week, but you can be coughing up phlegm for several weeks.

Anything ending in "-itis" indicates an inflammatory process.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

It can be,depending on any sputum cultures that have been done.Usually "chronic" bronchitis is from an irritants or allergy, but chronic infections of the sinuses, and bacterial organisms like Chlamydia or Mycoplasma pneumoniae, can be contagious if not treated. . Take care. SW FNP

Chronic bronchitis is usually caused by cigarette smoking but can be associated with lung allergies as well. It is not contagious even though people may worry about that. Symptoms of CB are a persistent cough that won't go away and/or extra phlegm (mucus) in the lungs.
