A vegetarian is someone who does not consume products from a dead animal so Yes...I am a "real" vegetarian.

I have to laugh at a post above. Once again, the poster is sending out wrong information. She says "I live a vegan lifestyle" and then in the same sentence says she uses milk and eggs. Vegans do not use dairy or eggs so therefore, she is certainly not vegan!

Lacto ovo vegetarians eat eggs and dairy. Yes they are a real vegetarian. However if you if you are an ethical vegetarian as opposed to a health motivated vegetarian then you might want to consider eating only free range eggs. I am not a vegetarian, which makes me feel ashamed sometimes, and I only eat eggs from the two chickens in my backyard... they used to be battery hens and now they will live with me until they die.... regardless of if they ever lay another egg or not.

Yes. Vegetarian means you don't eat dead
flesh. Eggs and dairy don't count as flesh.
They are a by-product but not meat.

By definition vegetarians usually only avoid meat. Lacto-ovo would mean they're not a "real" vegan.

Yes,some people confuse vegetarian for someone who eats only vegetation, but to me vegetarian just means avoiding meat, lard and gelatin.

By definition yeah.

I think it's more about social conscience than anything. In this case I'd worry about their egg buying, to make sure that if they do not want cruelty to animals that they make sure to buy free-range eggs.

Otherwise milk cows are generally treated like gold while they produce milk so they produce lots, so it doesn't seem so bad.

I think it's all about intentions.

sure, You dont have to fit someone elses version of it. Eat what works for you. I live a vegan lifestyle, but accept the gift of milk from my well pampered cow, and eggs from well pampered chickens. I dont call myself a vegan out of respect, but I have no guilt issues about it, and could give a flip what anyone thinks
