I've had asthma for 28yrs. It can only be controlled there is no cure. Go to an Allergist I have one and he is great because he has asthma too so he knows the best products out there. I use a Proventil inhaler, Singular which is for allergies and helps control frequent asthma attacks (its great). I have pretty severe asthma attacks in the spring so I have to use a Nebulizer also. Look into that most health insurance companies cover the cost. With in time the asthma does become moderate. Mine only flares up with the change of seasons. Other than that I barely use my inhaler and my nebulizer usage is only for emergencies which is little to none. Look into a really good Allergist

Depends on what is ultimately causing the asthma. For some people, asthma is a physical response to something in their environment that helps trigger it.
In that situation, there is a cure. The cure is trying to determine what could be triggering the asthma and avoiding it. For example, some peoples asthma is triggered by allergies. You could cure this by getting allergy shots to reduce the effects of asthma or simply do your best to avoid the allergen in the first place. If you are allergic to dogs, which then causes you to have trouble breathing, the answer is simple. Don't take medications, just get rid of the dog!!
However, if you have tried to eliminate any possible causes and still no luck, you may be an individual who just has a "genetic" predisposition to asthma. Whatever the cause might be, you cannot seem to find it, and in that situation, you might have to revert to taking medications to reduce the effects. As others have mentioned, however, sometimes you do grow out of your asthma (as I have), therefore you should occasionally stop your treatment (under doctor supervision) to see if your asthma has improved on its own.

Cannot be cured. Moderate asthma is best controlled by a bronchodilator combined with an inhaled steroid (non-systemic), such as Advair. Usually, mild asthma can be controlled with just and inhaler, like Azmacort or Flovent, a steroid. Always rinse your mouth out after puffs to avoid thrush. Use a rescue med such as Albuterol for acute attacks.
Always follow your doctor's advice.

Meds will not cure asthma, but sometimes asthma goes away on it's own. Kids can "grow" out of their asthma all the time.
