My brother might have Pneumonia. He's not the type of guy that gets sick real easy. In fact he is pretty healthy and strong and works out often.

Last Wednesday night he went out to play basketball and then he also headed to the gym. The following day (thursday) 4am in the morning he passed out from dehydration and a low blood sugar. He got much better a day after. Bu tjust yesterday he went to play in a long basketball tournament of 8 hours and now he has a really bad fever and sweats the bed like a pig and has a temperature of a 104.5 degrees F. I think he might have trouble breathing as well. My mom gives him medicine and lots of juice and water and is gonna send him to the doctors very soon, and I am very concerned.

Is there anything I can give to make him feel better?

No honestly why the hell would I lie and waste your time with false information?!? I would NEVER do that. For PETESAKES My brother's life is at stake so cut me some slack Cherish.. ):

My mother is indeed taking care of him really well now. He is giving him fever reducers and plenty of water and has changed the bed sheets a couple of times. I haven't done much unforunetly..

Why would I want to dump in a bucket of ice?!? He has a cold, so doing that would just kill him.. He needs to stay warm and drink lots of water to prevent hypothermia and dehydration.

He just came back from the doctors office a couple hours ago. It has been confirmed that he indeed as Pneumonia. Yes he does take tylenol for the headaches and quite a bit of medicine.. He's getting better now, but I'm a bit worried if he's well enough to go to school tommorow or not. He is in college and is supposed to transfer in the fall if he maintains his grades..

You said he has been playing basketball all day and to the gym and if he did not drink fluids or eat that would account for th low blood sugar and dehydration. Right now he needs to take it easy. A fever will make you sweat and fevers tend to come at night so a good suggestion is Tylenol and a cool, not a cold, bath. That should help bring the fever down. I used to get fevers that high as an adult myself. If it does not get better after a day or two call his dr. Don't dump ice on him. Tylenol shhould bring it down. You don't want to induce hypothermia. The breathing you need to explain to your dr. A chest x-ray can confirm pneumonia. Keep up the juice, H2O, and some nice warm chicken soup. Hope this helps.

Kadie, How High young children are apt to run top fevers esp. at night time, deliver him child aspirin and get a rainy material now not bloodless and wipe him down.If the fever runs top like 103'-104' he must be taken to the E.R. this would motive convulsions within the very younger. Good Luck Rita

Sounds like mom has it under control, but he may still need to see a Doctor for antibiotics. You could help mom by giving him things to do-reading, playing games, etc, changing his pillow case to keep it dry and maybe help mom use ice packs (wrapped in a towel) to put on the back of his neck, just try to keep him comfortable and help mom with some of her duties around the house until your brother gets better. Sounds like he has a great sibling.Let me know how this worked out. queen
