Plenty of cool fluids + paracetamol are good. Lockets might soothe it a bit I guess. Antibiotics have only a tiny place and little effect on the speed of resolution. Neither gargling with aspirin, which actually inflames the throat, or salt are now ever recommended medically!

I'll give you a list of things that will help your sore throat;

#1 drink as much water as you can to flush out the bacteria
#2 eat loads of Bio yogurt, this has friendly bacteria in it which will balance out the flora and forna in your gut (which in turn will help your throat)
#3 as I have always said cooked onions, water and brown sugar - this is for coughs and sore throats
#4 this option is so revolting but works - buy some thyme (herb you will find in most supermarkets) and put boiling water into a cup; seave the herb and add sugar.
#4 buy some real lemon juice (pure), and thick honey (clover is good), and boil some water and add 1 tsp of brown sugar.
put at least 1/2 table spoons of honey to 2/3 tiny tsp of lemon.
#5 make a mix of this with glycerin
#6 dilute some TCP and gargle it around (just TCP) or - I have used vinigar and salt with TCP and warm water - stings a tad but you won't believe the ammount of muck that came out - it obviously burned out the germs - then it was numb lol

1/2 caps of TCP to 5 parts water or a glass of luke warm water.
OR 1 cap of vinigar, half a tsp of salt, half a cap to 1 cap of TCP, and a whole mug of warm to hot water.

#7 lozengers only really numb your tongue - but try oral daktarin for ulcers and bongela as well, and clean your fingers then rub gently around your tonsils...
#8 when you do drink water, if you have used any of the suggested remedies beforehand - wait 10 15 mins before you drink so that the remedies have a chance to work instead of being washed off.

Water is important to flush out toxins and to keep the body functioning well. For a sore throat try a mixture of two teaspoons of glycerine, a tablespoon of lemon juice and tablespoon of honey in a 500ml glass. Add warm water stir and sip throughout the evening and night. Try two glasses if necessary. Always works for me.

The very best thing for easing a sore throat is to gargle with 1 dissolvable aspirin in a glass of water.

TCP (diluted in a glass of water) also helps, and will help reduce the bacteria

its fine. Hot drinks may soothe a sore throat more though. Lockets will ease the throat and another good remedy is to gargle with dispersible aspirin or paracetamol which you can either swallow or spit out when you have finished.

Yes. You should only take sips of water not in gulps as it might make you throw up.. Yeah, maybe a little too informative, but yeah.

Try and get some solid food before having any tablets.

Not very. Get down to your nearest (open) chemist for soluble aspirin and Decquacaine lozenges. Gargle with the aspirin before swallowing, then numb the pain and tackle any infection with the lozenges (they are antiseptic and anaesthetic). Wish you better.
