I have been taking prednisolone for the last 3 years and recently had a relapse and am now considering taking Methotrexate.
Any one got any views?
I'm not thrilled at the idea of it. I'm 38 and worried about potential long term liver damage, fertility etc.

Methotrexate can also cause BOOP. This is a lung infection that can only be cured by cutting out the affected portion/s. My father went through this and was never truly the same again. I also see it in my practice in the hospital in which I work. There is a reason that it is a old and seldom used drug. Try seeking a second opinion.

Consider high dose pulse steroids instead. Less side effects and higher therapeutic efficacy. Like Solumedrol 1000mg once a month. Less than if you take 40mg daily. Side effects are temporary with the high dose
