Delima question for Vegan/Vegetarians...?

Question

If I gave you a chicken sandwich, and told you to eat it or I would kill another chicken... would you do it?

I've actually enjoyed some of these answers and your tact is way more than that of those in the political question groupls...

That being said... some of those that answered are nuts. You equate the life of a chicken with the life of a human... and you advocate the killing of a human to save a chicken... that mentality is one I will never understand.

The analogy's that compare this to holding a human at gunpoint are flawed. To be accurate you would have to say that if I handed a chicken a human sandwich and told him to eat it or I would kill another human... would the chicken eat it. That's not a very realistic though, I doubt the chicken would even know what was going on and would probably eat the sandwich regardless of my demands.

that is hard to answer. not everyone is a vegetarian because of animal cruelty. some do it for their own health. and no, i wouldn't eat the sandwich.

I think so far the answer has been a unanimous choice not to eat the hypothetical sandwich in question, and I'm adding my two cents as a strict vegan o say I would also not eat the sandwich, but for completely different reasons to the other answerers.
I became and continue to choose to be vegan primarily but not soley because it is my right as a human being to choose as such. Therefore, no amount of threats or blackmail can force me to alter my values unless I choose to.
Simultaneously, I became vegan because I enjoy awarding other living beings the same rights to choose as I enjoy, including other humans. Therefore, if you want to kill a chicken in front of a vegan for fun, I will not attempt to stop you, especially not by sacrificing my rights. However, I would do everything in my power to try to convince you that your actions are not what works, and that they are unsuitable in this society. If you ended up killing said chicken, I would do everything in my power to inform the authorities that you willingly stripped a living organism of all it's rights, including it's right to life. I would advise them to attempt to reprogram your synaptic pathways so that the idea of killing a chicken in front of a vegan just for fun is inappropriate, and warn them that there is more than likely many other concepts and perceptions that most of us would consider inappropriate that you wish to be, do or have in your life.
The justice system in place in just about every country on Earth is poorly designed and enforced, which works to punish people for their mistakes, and does little or nothing to show offenders how things can work. That's not justice, that's vengence, and it's an act perpetrated by law enforcement that is just as inappropriate as the original offence. One only needs to know "The Secret" to know this is true, and yet many feel these comments I have said are some kind of attack on their morality, intelligence or the collective of which they are a member. I have no intention or desire to attack anyone, in any manner. Only to teach and/or advise of how things can be improved. Don't discard this advice before learning "The Secret". It may change your whole life!

It is really not a dilemma any more than saying someone puts a gun to your head and your wife's head and says that they are going to KILL you unless you chop off your arm... are you going to chop off your arm to save your wife's life and your own life?
It's just a MORBID question on the level of saying what anybody who is awakened to be anybody already knows ~ non-veganism is GROSS and disgusting.(nonvegan actions would include your MURDER of a chicken as well as the action of the person threatening you)

But to answer your question : Ideally we'd LOCK YOU UP if you attempted a CHICKEN MURDER or if we had to we'd KILL you in the name of defense... just as you would have the right to KILL the person who put the gun to you and your wife's head...

Well i wouldn't eat it!, And I would laugh at you for waisting your money on such a stupied thing! or if you had a chicken in hand I would beg you not to kill it then if you did.......I would call the law.

I would not eat it. Because I am vegan for weight loss. And I've lost 55 pounds in seven months. :)

It's no dilemma. You kill chickens probably almost everyday. Why would I compromise my morals when you will just go on killing and eating chickens (and other animals) tomorrow?

Your question is unrealistic and just plain silly. These "What if" questions are asked all the time and although you think it's humorous for some odd reason, what are you exactly trying to accomplish by asking it? Stop wasting every ones time and ask something that has some relevance.

no, I wouldnt. Eating decaying animal flesh that full of parasites and bacteria, makes no sense to me. Do what you must, but you cant make me eat something that goes against my common sense/
