I drink about 1.5-2 gals of water a day, because I work outside. However I seem to always feel thirsty, and when I drink Gatorade I feel find and healthy. However Gatorade has too much sugar, drinking whenever thirsty, becomes too much for my system and that causes me to be dehydrated again. Thank you for your responses <3 God Bless.

If gatorade is too much sugar why not go half gatorade and half water. I used to do this and it worked great for me.

I'm on a volunteer fire department, one of the things that health professional suggested we do when fighting fires is to mix Gatorade with equal amounts of water. This dilutes the sugar, and gives a better balance of electrolytes. When you sweat you are getting rid of sodium and potassium. You might add a banana or other fruit, like strawberries or cantaloupe to your diet for the extra potassium. Of course table salt is sodium, but if you don't want to add table salt to your diet, celery is high in sodium content. If you drink Gatorade, you shouldn't have to add much sodium and potassium to your diet, just a little.

Hi there,

One thing you could buy from any drug store is a product called Gastrolyte (comes in plain and cherry flavour...go for the cherry, sweetened with splenda). It's basically powdered gator aide. Or simply make your own; a tablespoon or 2 of salt mixed in a bottle of water. For course a homemade version won't taste as great unless you add some kind of flavouring; I tend to use sugar free coffee syrups.

Cheers.

Powerade has a drink called powerade option(less sugar). However, constant thirst is a sign of diabetes-maybe you should be tested for that. Also, my father was in the Army and was taught to sprinkle salt in his water on high activity days outside.

I use 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water half hour before, during and half hour after workout. But, not all day just water.

The above suggestions of Gastrolyte or mix 50/50, both work well. You can also get Powerade Light now

im pretty sure sodium is a type of electrolyte, so maybe you could have a little more sodium in your diet.
