It's not dangerous in the sense that it will cause you immediate complications like diabetic coma, however if left untreated sugar levels like that will begin to affect your body in numerous ways (nerve damage, kidney damage, etc)

You didn't say if you are on medication or if you have altered your lifestyle in any way to hep control your sugar levels. If you haven't done any of that yet, please see your doctor soon to develop a treatment plan for you. If you are doing these things, you need to revisit your doctor and investigate other options. I know how difficult and frustrating this can be and I wish you the best.

It sounds like you're monitoring your blood sugars. My wife used to get that high, but she's like you, she kinda hovers between 100-150, and anything over 120 is a sign that you're at least type 2.

What were you eating/drinking before the 214 reading? Is this a blood fasting sugar reading? (ie: did you not eat/drink 8 hours prior to this?)

2 hours after a meal, you generally want to be below 180. Anything over that you want to be cautious. So while 214 isn't high, it's moderately high, and therefore higher than it should be.

Check with your doctor or nutritionist to see what will work best for you to keep your blood sugars lower.

I follow a low glycemic index diet to keep control of mine.

I think he should take his medication: has the doctor ever told him something like "If you find more than 400, then take this dose of this medication...", anything like that? If not, then he should call a doctor and ask what to do; since it's Sunday he can go to the emergency room. Anyway, even if he waits until tomorrow, don't worry: it's not so urgent. If you fear for his life, don't worry: one could live weeks even with high sugar levels. Even much more if one takes medication. Anyway it's not healthy, because too much sugar damage the body, but this happens in the long run, not just in a few days. The dangerous thing is the fact taht he doesn't control diet and sugar levels seriously: his may make him develop problems to eyes, feet...

it sounds like your body isn't regulating the blood sugar like it should.

That is too high a level to have for an extended period. If you don't get some help with maintaining your blood sugar (either with medicine or diet) then it will likely continue to get higher and higher until you wind up in the ER in diabetic keto-acidosis.

DKA is not a particularly pleasant experience, and pretty serious too because your metabolism gets all kinds of outta whack, and it can kill you.

You need to get to the doctor, get diagnosed if you are not already, and get some assistance and education about your condition.

Diabetic complications are serious and life threatening. But it can be managed and people do quite fine with it if they can keep that blood sugar in check.

Make an appointment as soon as possible.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

If you haven't been to a doctor, you should get moving. More than likely, you've developed diabetes. The normal blood sugar range is approximately from 90 to 120. When it's in the high 100's and the 200's, it's too high and it usually means diabetes.
Go and get yourself checked, don't wait. Diabetes is very serious and MUST be controlled.

214 isn't dangerous in the sense that you will die from it,however it IS a diabetic reading. You need to go to your doctor as soon as possible. He will want to do a fasting reading which is YOU not eating or drinking anything after midnight if you were going to be seeing him later that morning/day so he can get an accurate reading...

I wouldn't be too worried yet but if it gets any higher you may want to get to a doctor sooner then later.

Hope this helps!
