I gave my boyfriend who is about 6 years older than me oral the other day, and a few days later my mouth burst out in little sores. On the inner corner of my lip, one of the sores busted and it tasted very very salty. I'm not sure if I just got alot of cold sores, or if it's herpes. I don't have any genital sores, which sucks because nobody sees down there but everyone can see my mouth.

Please help !

probably oral herpes. by the way, "cold sores" are herpes.

Try abrieva. See your medical doctor. It would have been good to do a sex history on your partner before performing oral on them ... did you do this? The only conclusive exam to determine if your partner is safe is an STD profile - this can be done at your doctor's office or a planned parenthood.

herpes simplex type 1 generally apperas as cold sores or fever blisters on the lips and mouth. it is contagious in the earliest stages even before the blisters appear and remain so until all the sores are completely healed. it can also be spread to the genitles from oral /genital contact. If you go to the doctor they can give you a medicine called Zovarax . This medicine also works on chicken pox and on type 2 herpes(genital)

A good chance that it is herpes, and if you have unprotected sex with him, it a good chance that you have genital herpes, you can have this, and not know anything about it, until later, that's the way herpes gets spread anyway, is because people don't know they have it, you can go to doctor and get medicine that will keep the outbreaks down, wish helps with the pain also, oral herpes is type 1, the genital herpes is type 2. Just get a check up and talk to your doctor about this.

"I don't have any genital sores, which sucks because nobody sees down there but everyone can see my mouth."

THANK YOU!!! This is something so few people realize! I would much rather have a sore down under than right there on my face! For some reason our society makes such a huge deal out of genital herpes, but oral herpes is totally acceptable.

As the others have said, cold sores are herpes. We just give them a cute name so that we don't have to say the H. word.

What you have does sound like it might be herpes. The only way to know for sure is to have the sore cultured. If that is not possible at this point, you should go in for a blood test in about 3 months. It is important to know your status for your own health as well as any future partners you may have. Also ask your boyfriend to go in now and get tested. This may ease your mind and also give him the information he needs to protect himself as well as you in the future.

COLD SORE ARE HERPES. If you have cold sores then you have herpes. If you have had cold sores before then you probably just have a bad outbreak of them. Be sure to let your boyfriend know about your cold sores so he can monitor his genital area just in case you spread the virus to him. This is one way the herpes aka cold sores are transferred to the genital area via oral sex. You should consider using a condom with oral sex so you don't accidently give him the virus in the genital area from now on.
