different person shortly after and has been ever since. Now the second girl just found out that she has HPV with pre-cancerous cells as well.
Do you think she got it because of the first girl? Did the guy transfer it between the two?
I guess I don't completely understand HPV, but does it act somewhat like a STD?
And another question. Can these girls infect any guys that they sleep with and then the girls that that guy slept with will get it as well?
Is that guy infected for life? From what I understand guys can carry it but it doesn't affect them and they don't have any symptoms.

Yes, guys can carry it and will have it for life. Whoever he sleeps with will catch it and whoever your 2 friends will sleep with get it. It could linger in your body without symptoms for yrs. So it sounds like either he had it first or the first girl. It spreads so fast!

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is an STD and it's one of the least talked about STD's at that. Guys do carry it and yes it does affect them as well. Different strains of HPV can cause genital warts so yes they do get affected by HPV as well as women. The big difference is that in women, HPV can lead to cancer if not detected and treated.

The good news is that theres a drug out called Gardasil that is supposed to be a vaccine to prevent HPV. So far it has been approved for use on women but not men. More testing is needed.

HPV is an STD, and it's very contagious.
Did anyone ever tell you pre-cancerous friends to use rubbers?

You can't tell who originally gave it to who. He must carry it with no symptoms. Some strains cause cervical cancer, some genital warts....usually a person had more than 1 strain.

There is debate about if your body can ever fully rid itself of the virus.
There is now a vaccine for women...if you don't have HPV I would suggest you get the vaccine...and use a rubber anyway- there's worse things out there than HPV.

You people need to get your facts straight... no wonder STDs are running rampant!
Fact: The HP virus doesn't always have symptoms, the most dangerous type, with pre-cancerous cells, is symptom-free. Only gynocological tests (exam and pap smear) can determine if you have this type or not. Ironically, the particular HP virus that does not cause cancer, appears in the form of genital warts. (This will show up on both males and females.)
Fact: Men cannot be tested for HPV.

It seems like everyone is sleeping around with no regard to themselves and others. If the guy that you were having sex with is having sex with others, I'm almost sure that the second girl didn't necessarily get it from him.
I would say that if people are going to be having sex, USE PROTECTION!!! Gee, that seems simple enough...

HPV IS an std. it is genital warts. men do carry it and will have symptoms. the difference between men and women carrying the disease is that with women it can travel into the uterus and cause pre cancerous cells or cell abnormalities. with men they usually just get small warts on their genitals.
if they had unprotected sex then it is possible that it was transfered between the people.
yes you have HPV for life. at this stage the treatment is having the external warts removed by your doctor as far as i know.
I believe some countires are trialing a vaccine to avoid the virus being spread to begin with, espeacially with the effect that it can have on women

either your male friend has it first and gave it to your female friend, or your female friend had it, gave it to your male friend, and he gave it to the new girl. either way, they all three have it and the male should be tested too. HPV is an STD. it acts exactly like any other STD. any of the infected people can give it to whomever they sleep with forever now. you do not get rid of HPV and they will have to be very careful with partners for the rest of their lives.
