Two parents both working so no time for home cooking. Fast Food growth was not possible until the invention of the refrigerated truck. That made possible the movement of food both frozen and chill over long distances. Inventor was Fred Jones

Relatively cheap, easy, fast, addictive, and the advance of technology.

You can get a chicken sandwich for $0.99, but a milkshake cost $2-3. So they have made chicken so cheap to produce through assembly line procedures in the slaughterhouse.

Convenience and the misconception that it's cheaper than cooking at home. If you plan well, it's much cheaper to cook at home, and it's much more delicious. so I'd say it's convenience and the longer work week that gave rise to the fast food industry.

taste (full of stuff that makes you addicted)
Blissful ignorance on behalf of consumer that the food is actually good for you. Its full of preservatives, dyes, artificial colors and flavors, bad fats, bad meat, bad everything

Shame that more consumers don't realize the facts
