To answer the question, yes -- it's totally political and just another example of government thinking they know better than us.

No, I am not aware of this. However, it is true that fats can be harmful, especially to people with diabetes. You never listed the benefits.

We all need some fat in our diet just as we need some carbohydrates and some sugar as well as protein, etc. etc. Just don't need an oversupply of fats. Fats of any kind contained in foods such as potato chips or french fries are bad because they raise your cholesterol.
