Oh, Miss Manners will tell you otherwise, but the absolute best way to toss a salad is with your own two (clean) hands.

The reason? Well, some of those greens and other ingredients are very delicate. You go slapping spoons around and you're liable to crush stuff.

Same goes for potato salad, breading meats, etc.

I like to put the dressing in the bottom of the bowl along with any other additional items, like dried fruit, nuts, cheese, etc. Then I put the lettuce[s] on top. I use wooden utensils to toss by putting them under the lettuce, down where all the goodies are and turn eveything over a couple of times. Then portion onto plates or pass the bowl.

It just means turning the salad over and over to mix with the salad dressing.

Use two large sppons and gently mix the salad. You want to mix it all together. Gently toss the salad up with the spoons.

I put the salad ingredients in a large tupperware and pour the dressing over the whole veggies and then close the tupperware and just move it around so that everything gets mixed up
