I don't, but I'm always surprised by how many people do! Lacto-ovo vegetarian here, just interested to see the breakdown of what people think.

It always confuses me when someone tells me they're vegetarian too, then I see them order a big plate of BBQ wings :)

No, and neither does any credible vegetarian society or organization. The whole purpose of a label is to put many words into one. I should be able to go anywhere and say *vegetarian* and have it understood that I do not want dead carcases or dead-carcass by-products on my plate.

These wannabes are trying to ruin it for their own selfish and or lazy reasons. If you eat dead animals, you have no need for a label, just order the dead animals you do eat. If they don't believe in the cause or concept, why would they want to take the label anyway? It makes no sense. They should just be happy with the omnivores they are. We have enough to deal with without having to explain the basic biology of a fish being an animal.

:)

Plain and simply they are LIARS!! They harm all vegetarians by confusing the general public into thinking that it's just fine and dandy to offer us "food" that contains dead animals!

I also have a real problem with terms that try to blur the line between omnivore and vegetarian! The -arian suffix that was applied to the Latin root vegetus is to connote a whole, sound, fresh, lively lifestyle created by eliminating dead animals from ones diet. That's why we are veget-arians and NOT vegetu-vores!

People that don't want to be a *real* vegetarian should choose names based on the -vore suffix since that implies diet! The fish eaters already have a name that has been used for (at least) centuries. I list it at the bottom of all my answers now. I can find no reference to bird eaters other than omnivore but I would have NO problem with them using the term 'aviavore' since this would be in the same spirit as the established term piscivore.

Since I grew up in 'old school' Texas where a handshake counted as a contract I have a *REAL* problem with deceitful folks, and anyone that voluntarily consumes ANY animal product yet claims to be veggie should be treated with all the scorn a LIAR deserves!

Don't think these people are habitual liars? It was recently pointed out to me that one such fish eating 'veggie' has changed their age, home and reasons for eating fish over the past several months right here on answers! Here's how the person responded to one question in another section of YA:
---
"What is your fav food and why?"

I could eat steamed crab legs with lemon all day every day! Greeting from the lovely mountains of western _____ ______!
---
Does that sound like an answer any vegetarian would give? The same person recently claimed to be from Florida! I removed the state listed in their answer to (at least) maintain a modicum of fairness to this LIAR.

It's people like this that are the reason so many omnivores consider *all* vegetarians to be hypocrital vermin. I feel pity for the fool I used as an example but they are all LYING VERMIN and deserve nothing but scorn!

SHAME ON THEM!!!

No, personally I do not consider them vegetarians ...but I would like to add something .. People believe that you have to 100 percent or nothing .. I give people credit for all choices of not eating , abusing or using animals.. Our goals are the same ...to act as the protectors of god's creatures .... so to people that give up red meat , all meat , chicken, fish , dairy ,leather , etc all or some ....I applaud all of you for making a conscience effort to move in the right direction .... what meat eaters will never understand is that we freely give these things up and get nothing in return ... they might to do well to question themselves as to why they don't ...

Personally, I am too busy living my own life to care what other people eat. I am a veg who does no Dairy, but I do eat eggs, so I cannot claim Vegan "Status".
It seems silly to me to make ones' diet into a Whizzing Contest.
I honestly don't mean this toward you or any individual, but I like to come to the Vegan/Vegetarian forum for idea exchanges and maybe some good new recipes, not a report card on how Holy I am or am not.
All this infighting is kind of turning me off. If it's not the Vegans and the Veggies arguing, it's the Carnivores vs. the Rest of Us.
Good luck.

No, a Vegetarian is some one who does NOT eat ANY kind of meat. Including fish.

I, personally, consider anyone that eats any food product that was produced by/from an animal to be an omnivore, not a vegetarian.

I agree. No, they are not vegetarian if they eat any meat or fish. Pescavors eat fish, but no meat. I laughed the other day when someone posted on here that they don't eat meat, and asked about the veggies in corned beef...HELLO, just cause its CORNED does not make it vegetarian meat! LOL

No I do not consider them a vegetarian. There is however a pescavegetarian. They are allowed to eat fish/seafood. But eating chicken excludes you from being any kind of vegetarian.
