I became involved in animal rights 35 years ago ... that's another whole issue but it made me question why I was eating them .. I became a vegetarian first because I thought it was wrong to kill them for food but not to trade..you feed the cow ..he feeds you ...about 10 years later and lots of research and facts .. I realized for me that was not acceptable either ..because of the conditions and treatment of dairy animals as well ... so that is it in a nutshell ..it is amazing the changes I have seen and the increase in vegetarians.. the young people today are better informed and maybe more mature

I've been a vegetarian for 13 years.
I became a vegetarian simply because meat made me sick to my stomach.
I continue to be a vegetarian for my own health and I don't want to support the animal cruelty that is all around us.

Yep, proud vegetarian here. My reasons are probably 50/50 between the animal aspect and the health benefits. So far I've really enjoyed it and I don't miss meat at all.

I want to be a veggie, but I'm hopeless at keeping my iron intake high enough to top up my haemoglobin, which is so low they won't take a blood donation from me. I ate lots of spinach and drank orange juice at the same time (which doubles the amount of iron absorbed from food) but it didn't work very well, and I've been sent away twice now.

If anyone could recommend a book for beginners, I could give it another go, as I too don't want to eat anything with a face.

I am a veg because causing some living creature to die just so I can stuff my face is just plain wrong. Further more, meat is unsanitary, and contains blood, urine, fecal matter, and all of those growth hormones, steroids, and antibiotics-just doesnt make good sense. I feel like the ONLY think I am missing out on by being a vegetarian, is cholesterol, bad fat, toxic stuff, and decaying dead animal flesh. I think I will likely miss out on visiting the cardiac doc when I am older too, but I can LIVE with all of this, it will just have to be my loss.. lol

I was a Vegetarian but I became Vegan after learning about egg and dairy production and realizing that Vegetarianism is a morally inconstant position if you claim to oppose the killing of animals.

I am a veggie. People are slowly coming round to the veggie way but in other countries eating meat is unheard of. Unfortunately being a part time chef i have to cook with meat but i do not eat any myself.

My husband became vegetarian after his 1st marriage broke up and he went home to live with his Mum. Her cooking was of the meat & two veg variety every day with greens being cooked to death. Rather than upset her by telling her she couldn't cook he announced he was going veggie. It worked and kept his Mum happy.

My health is really important to me. Because animals and their milk are so tainted with chemicals, my health suffers if I ingest these things.
I also love animals and detest the way food animals live and are slaughtered. I cannot support something I feel so strongly about. It is also very bad Karma to take into your body something treated so badly.
Good luck
I'll be 50 this year.
