First, let me express my sympathies to you. I know what it's like to care for aging and ill parents and how helpless it can make you feel.

Clearly you need another physician and second opinion. Many outpatient hospital clinics have pain management centers. Maybe you have one near you.

Also consider any and all homeopathic alternatives you can think of. Your local library would have some good books. I have no idea if acupuncture would be helpful or if soaking his feet in some herbal remedy might work.

I'm thinking maybe an injection of corticosteroids, if he hasn't tried that for his feet already. It will provide some short-term relief and reduce the inflammation.

Having him sleep all the time is not an effective treatment for his illnesses, in my opinion. Darn doctors! There should be some middle ground for him between agony and sleep. They need to find it.

Please take care of you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You MUST get him to a doctor. Meds that make him sleep all day and all night are working properly for him. He is probably also depressed. Pain and diabetes do that. Is he taking gabapentin? It's excellent for diabetic pain, and you learn to overcome the sleepiness. The cherry juice may help with the gout, but the standard treatment is orange juice. It is very high in carbs, so try vitamin C suppliments.

The pain in his feet is probably the gout. You can try to control his diet and that will help. Controlling his diet will also help his diabetes.

I would contact the Mayo Clinic you can do so on line and even book appointments on line. However, from what I just read, managing his diet will help the gout a lot.

Caution: don't go too astray on those "herbal" remedies; they won't work and could do a great deal of harm to him. You really do need some specialist doctors to take a look at him.

Total "Yes" to massages for him.

I'm sorry to hear this.

Unfortunately I don't live in your part of the country, but I can offer a bit of advice in regards to the gout.

I've found that cherry juice works wonders to eliminate it. It was recommended by different doctors and it stops my gout flareups within days (generally they last two+ weeks).

I hope it helps in some way.

Ok 2 things Ive had results with, the Drs wont tell ya cause then they can charge a fortune for meds that dont do much.

Ive heard about the cherry juice but never tried it.

I had some luck witha half teaspoon of bicarb of soda in a glass of water.

What works even faster and better for me (though eache person is different) 2 teaspoons of Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. in 12 hours you should see some releif .

as always this is not ment as medical advise and you should first contact your physician, but it works well for me.

My heart aches for your dad!
If the only thing his doctor is doing is prescribing pain meds, and he's in so much pain he cries, you might want to take him to a doctor that will treat dad's problem a little more seriously, preferable a doctor who specializes in geriatric diabetes.

God bless you and your dad, and I hope things get better for him!
