Cute. The vagina is a unique area that remains healthy by keeping a balance in the microbes (micro organisms) that live there. The two most common types of microbes that live there are bacteria and yeast. The bacteria are the same ones that are found in live yogurt and they produce acid that keeps the vagina in balance by preventing the yeast to grow out of proportion. But sometimes influences disrupt this balance.
For instance, if the patient takes an antibiotic, the antibiotic can kill some of the good bacteria. Now the food that the good bacteria would normally eat is available for the
yeast to eat and this can cause an overgrowth of yeast
resulting in an uncomfortable yeast infection. Other causes of yeast infections can include: menstruation or sexual intercourse where semen is deposited in the vagina. Both events can allow the vaginal environment to become less
acid allowing the yeast to take over. Something that can restore the balance is a vinegar and water douche because it restores the acid environment. Yeast infections are also correlated with wearing tight fitting non-breathable clothing.
Cotton is helpful in avoiding yeast infections. Synthetic
fibers down allow the body heat to dissipate and can lead to
yeast infections. The most common cure is Miconazole or Clotrimazole Vaginal cream in a 7 day once a night dosage.
There are other treatments that an be one day or 3 day treatments. Occasionally these 2 products do not eliminate
the yeast infection and Terconazole (Terazol) is the recommended product for resistant cases. Diflucan 150mg is a tablet that
women often take 1 tablet to eliminate an infection.

No, the vagina does not rise! You will have a discharge that can be thick and it could look like some wet, raw dough.
