My 2 favorite food gifts are homemade fudge and homemade apple jelly...but if you find those too time-consuming, a quick tip is homemade bath salts. You buy the bulk sea salt at your drugstore and use simple food coloring. Then let dry and pour into a fancy jar you buy at the Dollar Store and you're all set! And if you really want to get creative, you pour over some eucalyptus oil or almond extract and it smells mah-vellous!

I have several but I am only giving out one b/c I have to keep some secrets to myself :)

Get a colander ( you can by them cheap or expensive - your call) Fill with good pasta, a great sauce, some good cheese and crackers. You can also add in some wine and maybe a pasta utensil. Use the colander as the basket and people will go crazy over this. It is fun and handy.

PS. you can also add in a cute oven mitt to fit the occasion.

I love giving homemade vanilla sugar and homemade vanilla extract

Vanilla Extract
Ingredients
2 vanilla beans, split
2 cups premium Vodka [Belvedere, Grey Goose or Ketel One]

Method
Place the split beans in a jar containing the vodka, seal, and let stand in a cool dark place for 6 months

Vanilla Sugar
The flavor of vanilla always improves cookies, cakes, or tarts, and can even lend an alluring flavor to bread. This sugar is also delicious stirred into plain yogurt, sprinkled on buttered toast, and for dipping strawberries

Ingredients
8 cups white or raw brown sugar
2 Vanilla Beans

Method
Place the sugar in a jar that be sealed airtight. Push the vanilla beans right down into the sugar. Close the jar and forget about it for a week, then proceed to use the sugar.

Replace the sugar as you use it, stirring it in the jar. The vanilla beans will continue to add their flavor for up to 3 months.

I used to make the most awesome gift baskets. I'd find a really unique basket maybe at Ross or even a thrift shop and put in 2 bottles of nice wine, cheeses, crackers and 2 beautiful wine glasses. I'd decorate the basket with silk grape vines (you can find them at wal-mart cheap) People used to rave over the gift basket because it looked so classy and it wasn't even very expensive to make. You can do the same thing with a theme like a night at the movies, put in some microwave popcorn, boxed candy like you get at the movies (wal-mart sells them too) a blockbuster gift card or DVD's. It's fun! Get creative, think of good themes. Gift baskets ROCK!

I love to give gift baskets made for the person & occasion. When my sister broke off her engagement, I fixed a basket of some of her favorite Bath & Body products, her favorite chocolate, a nice bottle of wine & a handpainted wine glass. She really loved it!! For our anniversary, I fixed my boyfriend a "movie night" basket. I picked up a couple of his favorite dvd's, added some pretzels, popcorn, mixed nuts, candy, a 6 pack of Bud lite for him & some wine for me!!

Use your imagination & it will be a hit for sure!!

Just save yourself the trouble--give them a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant. They can choose both the food and drink they prefer and your gifts will never be boring again.

You can give a bouquet of fruit that looks like flowers. I received one after my brother passed and it's the arrangement that I remember the most from dozens I received.
