It has been 5 days since I recovered from my fever. My phlegm has been clearing up pretty well. I've been drinking about 10-12 cups of water a day (read it from some website saying that doing so will thin ur phlegm faster, leading to a faster recovery), taking medication, staying away from food that builds phlegm and getting lots of rest.

However, I am still unable to reach vocal notes that I could usually do with ease when I wasn't sick. To make things worse, I have a gig coming up this Sunday, and my vocal range is quite limited to what I am expected to do. Any suggestions on how I can rid this phlegm thats affecting my vocal chords? Cause everytime I try to hit a high note, it feels like there's something blocking my vocal chords and I end up hitting a 'blank' note instead.

Over the counter Mucinex or prescription Entex PSE are great expectorants. Also, in addition to your water intake, you may want to try some hot tea to help the vocal chords. Good luck!

Phlegm is the method that lungs get rid of the crap in there

Guafenesin. It's found in some over-the-counter cough medications (i.e. Mucinex) and as a stand-alone product at health-food stores.
