I need some easy and affordable birthday party FOOD ideas for a 6 year old's army party. I am thinking either pizza or hot dogs. Does anyone have any creative ideas like green sherbet ice cream punch to represent army colors? Ideas like this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi! An Army party sounds pretty cute (do not tell him it's cute though) lol. He's lucky to have a mom who makes life fun for him. Let's see. Here are some ideas: Stuff a pinata with toy soldiers, plastic guns, green gummy worms, camo makeup, surplus store items, wrapped rice crispy bars, crazy string, toy grenades, jaw breaker candies, head bands, etc.

Also, green and brown jello would be really cool if you could make it. Jello jigglers is a recipe that lets you make figures and decorate them.

Soldiers in WWI used to eat 'Anzac biscuits'. These are really just cookies. I made them and they're good. YOu can get the recipe online. Tell them that these are what real soldiers used to eat since it would not spoil when shipped overseas.

BTW it would be so cool to get a guy from your local National Guard, dressed in fatigues, to make a brief visit. He could bring a fake medal or a trinket of some kind, say happy birthday, salute the kiddo and leave for duty. LOL

Don't forget that real soldiers also love Mountain Dew because it gives them an energy boost and it tastes good.

Also.. see this link for great ideas: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/army_parties_39.html

Have fun. This party sounds great!

Hi proud mommy, You could try just basic 'finger food',Chicken drumsticks vol-a-vents or other types of small filled pastries, open sandwiches made from slices of french loaf topped with whatever takes your fancy they are small bite sized and a couple of french stick loafs will go a long way and will look good when garnished. Egg mayonnaise - hard boil some eggs slice them in half length ways and top with some bought mayonnaise thinned down with a little lemon juice and a pinch of paprika, although these will need a fork potato salad coleslaw, toast some sliced bread cut it into shapes and top with pate - you could also have a cheese board with a few cheese biscuits and some crudities basic sliced raw vegetables with dips fruit salad for something sweet. I hope that there are some ideas there that you can use. All the best - do as much preparation the day before if you can and don't forget to enjoy yourself too! Rab

Well, you could try getting some green ketchup too if what you are making requires ketchup. Otherwise Little Caesars has very good pizza that you can get good deals on when buying in large quantities. You can go to almost any store and they will help you make the birthday cake the desired colors as well. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Pizza is a crowd pleaser- go with it! Easy cleanup too.

For the rest of the party-
-Plastic military helmets instead of party hats (try iparty)
-Dark Green Balloons
-Plastic Army men cupcakes or a Tank cake with the men
-Grey t-shirt decorating activity - have kids stencil their name on the backs and ARMY on the front- names like Lt. Scrappy and Pvt. Blue Cheese -try to be funny
-American Flag theme decorations
-Play Capture the flag- use a real flag
-Obstacle course- like boot camp
-Goodie bags of models (tanks and planes, etc) or any camouflage item- balls, hats, notebooks, etc.

Have fun!

I would make a batch of cup cakes then dye the frosting green, and then put the frosting over the cup cake and for the top put those little green army men.For goody bags I would put green pencils, green army men, green lolly pops, and green jolly ranchers!! Thats what I would do,and i hope your 6 year old has a great birthday!!!

Greetings,
Pizza is always a good choice you can never go wrong with that. Kids eat it up like nothin and pluss it really filling. I know that at some placed "If your really want It bad" they can custom make a cake for you and you can have the frosting green and black. You can use Koolaid packs with the green coloring to use as punch! and Ice cream of your choice!
Hope I Helped!! :-)

well you could do sprite which is still soda without the caffeine, drop some green food coloring in it. You could always do pizza with green food colored cheese, maybe some cookies in the shape of a boot and decorate with icing in camo. do flags with icing, and stars in gold maybe. if you do hot dogs, i think they use to make green ketchup, if they still do use that. If its all boys they shouldn't matter too much!
Good luck!
