Who is responsible for antibiotic resistance? Why?

Responsible? Doctors AND patients. Doctors have over-prescribed antibiotics for YEARS and a lot of patients bug them to prescribe them. Most of the time, you have a virus and the antibiotic is worthless on viruses. A person gets sick and thinks that an antibiotic will make them better faster. Even when the doctor tells you it's a virus.....people STILL beg for the antibiotic. So when you do get an infection, it won't help because the bacteria has become resistant. So many people end up in hospitals for something that started as a simple bacterial infection and after several different types of antibiotics, they just keep getting sicker.

Perhaps a larger cause of antibiotic resistance is their use in agriculture. They are fed to the animals humans eat even if the animals aren't sick. This allows all sorts of germs to become resistant

The responsibility lies on both doctors and patients. The doctors over prescribe antibiotics and the patients not taking them as directed or not taking the full prescription.
