Pregnancy increases your need for insulin.
You and your doctors will work together to keep your levels as normal as possible.

The rule of thumb is to drop your level of insulin to 1/3 of what you are taking after giving birth.

BTW-120 is a great blood sugar .
Congrats .

Could be the bread since it is quickly turned into sugar and put into the blood stream. Could be the pregnancy. Most likely the bread. If you have blood sugar problems stay away from white bread or any bread that does not indicate that it is 100% whole grain. Anything else is over processed and very bad for you.

Read the South Beach Diet book. It talks about nutrition and how it effects your blood sugar in a way that is easy to understand and quick to read. A lot of foods rapidly effect blood sugar levels and they are in the most unasuming foods.
The S.B.D will cut out (adult onset) diebetes and is safe to do while pregnant.

Best of Luck and Congrats!

Well you didnt' specify what your sugar was spiking to. Anything under a 140 seems pretty normal espcially considering that you are preg. If after 2 hours you blood appears to be high (above normal) instead of being on yahoo answers may I suggest go to the DOCTOR before your unborn child suffers the reprecussions of your neglect. I am not trying to be mean, and I am sure tons of people will tell you differant answers, but the only one you should be discussing this with is your doctor and your doctor only!

My daughter was a high risk pregnancy with Type 1 Diabetes.
The baby eats your food and you will suffer low blood sugars so continually checking your blood sugar is important. Check with your doctor and see if you should be eating 7 eggs a week. My daughter was told to limit herself to 2 eggs a week. Cereal with sweet-n-low and 2% milk is a good substitute. My daughter ate peanut butter and honey on toast.
Oatmeal with butter, sweetener and milk. Just some extra ideas.

You are probably seeing the onset of gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes affects about 4% of all pregnant women - about 135,000 cases in the United States each year.
