it was about as wide as a ruler and about as long, but it was perfect for grating lemon, limes, etc... try as i might, no store i have been in sells them. I don't know the correct name for it. i thought, hand held grater, but got 10K of pics on ebay and all square and not what i wanted.

anyone know what i am talking about?

It's called a microplane grater. You can get one from Bed Bath and Beyond at the link below, as well as most kitchen supply places.

Yes, it's called a microplane. You can get them with or without handles and covers in almost any cooking store (Sur la Table, Williams-Sonoma, Bed, Bath, and Beyond) for about 12 dollars. They last forever as long as you keep them clean.

it's a citrus zester and you can find them at wal-mart, bed, bath and beyond, etc.
