well, the only way doctors can be absolutely sure that someone has HIV/AIDS is if their body has developed antibodies against the infection (learned from a blood test) but, the body doesn't start developing anti bodies for this particular infection for a few weeks, or even years, depending on the persons immune system, so, until then, all the tests would be negative.

SYMPTOMS, however, can start within a few days. a lot of people mistake them for a really bad flu or something.

there are 2 types generally. Early symptoms and late AIDS symptoms. Early symptoms usually occur 2-4 weeks after the infection. AIDS symptoms are in late HIV stage and worse. Early symptoms are like flu like symptoms such as sneezing, getting flu, enlargement of lymph nodes, headache, and other flu like symptoms. however, sometimes, people do not have HIV infection but still worried too much and these symptoms can happen. Unless you get tested minium 3 months mark after the possible exposure, you won't know whether you are infected or not.

It can take seven to ten years before you develop aids. That is why casual sex is so dangerous, In my day the 60s sex and drugs was a everyday thing some times multiple partners a week. But this was in the days when penicillin would cure any venereal disease that you could catch. Believe me if you are having casual sex at any age now you are playing Russian Roulette with you life. Aids has no cure and having casual sex is not worth the risk. I would suggest masturbation rather you are male or female until you meet the person you are going to marry and then you should both have a HIV test before having sex on your marriage night. When you are young you think sex is love, but mostly it is just lust.

Teens and young adults who contract HIV usually show no symptoms at the time of infection. In fact, it may take up to 10 years or more for symptoms to show. During this time, they can pass on the virus without even knowing they have it themselves. Once the symptoms of AIDS appear, they can include rapid weight loss, intense fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, persistent diarrhea, night sweats, or pneumonia. They, too, will be susceptible to life-threatening opportunistic infections.

It could take years before you see any symptoms. However, sometimes people will get flu like symptoms shortly after becoming infected. Get tested and for goodness sake stop having sex. If you can't then at least use precautions.
