Would you go out with someone who does? I get them, but I haven't had one for over a year. I would just like to know your thoughts on this.

Anyone who says they won't date anyone with a cold sore needs to know the facts of cold sores; instead of acting like a moron for nothing.

Cold sores are a normal fact of life. Everyone gets them at one time or another. They are NOT an STD.

I get them often; usually from stress. Have been since I was 11. I'm 44 now.

Ok I get cold sores alot in the winter. It is not an STD I have never had one I am proud to say. My cold sores are triggered by stress and I also get them when I get severely chappend lips. My doc said it is my bodies way of trying to defend its self. Cold sores don't mean an STD reguardless of what some people think!

I would think she needed some cold sore cream. Also wouldn't kiss her while she had the cold sore because I don' want to get it. What's the big deal though, it's just a cold sore.

Nope. Don't have any std's don't want any.
That's the impression cold sores give.
Actually had a girl who was way too pretty for me ,wanted to date me, and I turned her down because she had cold sores.
Probably a good move 'cause I later learned she was into some freaky stuff.

OMG! Those two guys who answered saying they wouldn't date a girl with cold sores is an IDIOT! Just because a girl gets coldsores doesn't mean that she has freakin herpes! As a matter of fact, you can't get them unless the girl HAS A COLDSORE at the time when you are kissing her or doing whatever. And even then it is very unlikely that you will contract them. Girls can get them for stupid reasons..even an allergy/sensativity to a lipgloss! its also hereditary! Guys are such dumbasses sometimes!

I REALLY wanted you to know that you can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!

I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!

I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.

This is the one I buy:

You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.

Very cheap.

The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!

I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you what I went through...and it's now been 3 YEARS since I've had one!

I've been in the Alternative Medicine field for some time now, and offer individualized consultations:

My bf suffered from bad cold sores because of his working environment. It never really bothered me, we just didn't kiss when he had them.

Then out of the blue, I got sick down below. Apparently, the one time we had had oral sex, he had transferred his simplex virus to me. HE DIDNT HAVE ANY COLDSORES AT THE TIME

I was pretty devistated by this. And to add salt to the wounds, he had also given me chlamydia too (both of which took around 5 - 9 months to appear).

My problem was that I had hidden my sickness for several days so when I finally was treated for herpes, it was very, very painful.

That was over 2 years ago. I am still with that same bf. He was very upset with what had happened because like me, he had only had a couple of partners. I haven't had any symptoms of herpes since.

Just be mindful that if you have coldsores, it can be a slight posibility that they will be transferred even when you have no symptoms.
